"Blazer Electric was excellent. They installed a new outlet in my kitchen with causing minimal mess since this was a brand new outlet so I could install an oven range hood. They used all the PPE precautions and were pretty thorough and polite. I will definitely have them do my future electrical work when needed."

The electricians arrived on time, explained the work clearly, and completed everything efficiently and safely. They were respectful of my home, cleaned up after themselves, and made sure I was completely satisfied with the results. "We recently hired Lighthouse restoration Group for a massive, multi-phase electrical overhaul of our 1920s home, updating a service panel upgrade to 200 Amps, and prepping the infrastructure for a future solar and EV charger integration. From the initial diagnostic visit, Vlad and his team stood out. They didn't just give a vague estimate; they provided a highly detailed, itemized line-item quote breaking down permitting fees, material costs, and labor. The project presented several unforeseen challenges, including retrofitting wires through double-brick firewall boundaries without destroying our original plaster molding. The team clearly explained the technical code compliance reasons for the adjustments. They coordinated flawlessly with both the city inspectors and our local utility company to manage the power disconnect and reconnect. They left the area clean of debris. I strongly recommend Lighthouse Restoration Group!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

When selecting a pool heater, it’s important to think not just about the cost of the unit itself but also about how much it costs to run. Expect to pay about $100 per month to run a heat pump pool heater. A natural gas heater will cost twice that amount, while an electric pool heater costs about $250 a month.

You should never wire neutral and ground wires together at a light switch. Not only is it unsafe, but it’s also incorrect. The neutral and ground wires perform separate functions in an electrical circuit and should never be swapped or wired together at a light switch, light, or outlet.

The key difference between a circuit breaker versus a surge protector is that circuit breakers shield your entire electrical system from overcurrents and faults, while surge protectors defend your electronic devices against voltage surges and spikes. A circuit breaker interrupts the flow of electricity in a circuit when it detects an overload or short circuit, protecting the wiring from damage and preventing fires. In contrast, a surge protector shields electronic devices from voltage spikes, such as those caused by lightning strikes or power surges, preventing damage to the device’s inner mechanics.

The most common reason a GFCI outlet would trip even when nothing is plugged in is if there’s a problem at the circuit breaker end. This could be an overloaded circuit, with too many appliances plugged into it, or another type of fault. If a GFCI outlet keeps tripping, it can also be because it is faulty and needs replacing.

A C-wire connects your thermostat to your household heating and cooling system to provide continuous 24V power. The furnace's transformer converts household electrical current into this low-voltage power to operate the HVAC system's circuitry. In most configurations, the C-wire connects to the terminals labeled "C" on both the furnace's low-voltage terminal block and the thermostat. In some cases, if a dedicated C terminal is unavailable, the C-wire can be connected to the "G" (fan) terminal at the furnace.
