"Ashraf George is my go to guy, his skill set are remarkable, he rehabilitate my foreclosure home when I got it and did a various projects to get me ready to move in from flooring to plumbing to electrical and appliances for a reasonable price, and last year he fully remodelled our bathroom and installed new bathtub, vanity, toilet, and fully tile the walls and the floor, also he did bathrooms and remodelled the kitchen and installed new cabinets and backsplash in my parents home! "Nick was great to work with. He was willing to work with us on price as I had already started the project and needed someone to take it over and finish it and he did a fantastic job. I will definitely plan to use him when we do our next bathroom remodel. He handled the ordering of the stone tile and ordered exactly what we needed."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

If you want your ceramic tiles to be evenly spaced and installation to take less time, spacers are a crucial part of the installation process.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

Tile floor installation usually takes about 16 hours of active work along with a couple of days of drying time between tile and grout applications.

The amount of time it takes your installer will depend on many factors, including the square footage of the space, the tile material type, and if they need to make intricate tile cuts.

Most professional shower tile installations take between six and eight hours, depending on the size and complexity. Most projects get completed in a single workday. DIY-ing the project takes around three to four days or roughly 16 hours. However, this will vary based on the skill level of the person completing the work.
