"Maurizio explained the entire job including pricing, and timeline. He gave us options on how we wanted our new backslash to look. Tony and Sal are true artists when it came to the install. They showed up on time, worked hard, and actually enjoyed their work. The job was finished on time, and on budget. I would highly recommend this company for any tile work that you may need."

"Removal of existing tile in our laundry room and replaced with new tile. They were a joy to work with. Came in and unhooked and moved washer and dryer to garage, removed very heavy 8ft door and removed old tile all in about 90 minutes. Next day installed new tile and grouted Did an excellent job with no mess and cleaned up everything. New tile looks great! Fast, friendly, reasonable and quality work Would recommend to anyone!"

"Frank and his crew were wonderful! They took our 35 year old kitchen with dark, outdated cabinets, awful tile, no space for a microwave and gave us a bright, beautiful, convenient kitchen that we absolutely love. It is a world of difference! They painted the cabinets a beautiful light grey & installed new cabinet hardware, installed new subway wall tiles and new white countertops with integrated sink, converted a pantry cabinet with pull-out drawers, and modernized the cabinet base, all within a very tight timeframe and at a comfortable price. They worked with us on the inevitable plan revisions and made great suggestions, all with good humor and patience. They were terrific!"

"Jose installed and finished Drywall in our 1500 Sqft basement. After agreeing to use Jose, I added some details that made the job more challenging ( along with assurances I would pay for additional time) and Jose didn't flinch. On the front end of his project, he helped install special sound isolation clips and hat channel furring for the ceiling. After that, I specified a 2nd layer of 5/8" drywall with green glue and sound caulking. And then the same on the wall adjacent to the stairwell. Then I asked him to prime all the new drywall.. Finally I asked him to lay ceramic tile in the bath ( asked on Thursday, done on Sat). He just rolled with it all and him and his team did all very well. I'm sure he was ready to be done with me and my BS additions and I'm sure there were customer waiting for him to get to their jobs, but I am thankful I hire him."

"Salvador and his crew where exactly what you WISH for in a contractor. We had a tight schedule and his team worked within our timeframe and were on time everyday as promised. They kept the jobsite clean before leaving each day and resolved obstacles that occurred during the project. We had a noise concern with other tenants and Salvador adjusted the installation method to GREATLY reduce noise and stay on our cost constraints'. Simply AMAZING team to work with."

Customers say: Quality work

"Jeff and Max turned our tub shower combo into a beautiful walk in shower. They removed the cast iron tub, created a new tiled shower pan and walls and added glass shower doors. They showed up on time and cleaned up the area and down the stairs every day. They picked up our shower doors and toilet from local home improvement center for us as we don’t have a vehicle large enough. They also fixed my entrance doors to the bathroom that have never closed properly. Very pleasant to work with."

"We went with Excellent Construction based on the many reviews on HomeAdvisor as well as Angies list and other websites. Jolanta was very professional and courteous and gave us a very good idea of the cost and timing of the project right from the get go. The pricing was very competitive and she was not pushy at all. She worked with us and explained the entire project to us and accommodated everything that we asked for and more! She made great suggestions and we ended up taking pretty much all of her suggestions in the end! She got Wojciech to work on the project along with Dominic. I have to say we couldn’t have been luckier that Wojciech worked on our project. He is in one word ‘Awesome’! Extremely professional, lot of attention to detail and a perfectionist that always exceeded our expectations! He would show up at 7:30 AM on time every day and would spend the whole day working and would clean up after he was done everyday (regardless of how long it took him and how long he had to stay back). He accommodated every little thing and always had a smile on his face regardless of the smallest irritating requests that I made and my micromanaging his work :). He made some great suggestions and has a great artistic and architectural sense. He was pretty much a one man show doing everything right from framing, flooring, electrical work, HVAC, plumbing and installing appliances, paint and tiling among others! He created beautiful ceiling with lights for the entertainment area and transformed the ugly metal columns into beautiful white accented masterpieces. The basement looks better than my rest of the new 3 year old house and we jokingly say that we will spend all our time in the basement moving forward. I have but great things to say about Jolanta and Wojciech and the rest of the crew and highly recommend them for house remodel work!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

The best bathroom floor tiles are strong enough to withstand the weight of a clawfoot tub. However, professional tile installation is essential. If the tiles are uneven or improperly fixed, they may crack under the pressure. Be careful when installing the tub—if it drops or drags on the tiles, it could easily cause scratches or cracks.

Whether you use a brush or roller depends on the size, shape, and amount of tiles. Rollers are easier to maneuver over large areas and can apply a more even coat of paint in a shorter time frame with no visible brushstrokes. Brushes are best for precision work, particularly in very small areas. If you don't want visible brushstrokes on your painted tiles, you can paint details with small foam brushes instead of bristled paint brushes.

Uniform spacing between tiles is important for a professional and clean appearance. To achieve this spacing, tile spacers should be placed between the tiles and left in place until the mortar hardens and the tiles are secure. You can use X-shaped spacers vertically in between the tiles and laid flat at the corners.

It’s easiest to start from an edge as it gives you a straight line. A problem may arise if your edge doesn’t line up perfectly, in which case it’s best to start from the center. Some think that starting tile from the center adds a focal point in the center of the hearth.
