"They found that their were cracks in the foundation. The first bid they gave me was for a permanent fix to completely restructure the foundation to rid the foundation of all cracks. It was an extremely high price and out of the range I was looking for. The person that came out for the inspection then assured me that it is very common to have cracks in the foundation and gave me a far less expensive alternative to repair the cracks and to stabilize the area. The estimate for that was fair."

"My husband and I had a wonderful experience with The Real Seal in July 2024. They fixed a bowing foundation and waterproofed the basement for future finishing. Their team was prompt, respectful, organized and thoroughly educated us on the drainage tile system, installation process and prevention. Thank you, Real Seal for being the flawless first step to our dream basement/family space!"

"If you are ever in need of a fantastic sewer/drain/plumbing company, you should absolutely contact Flo-Maxx!! As a first time homeowner, I unexpectedly walked into a laundry list of issues. After having one company tell me I was a low priority, Flo-Maxx came to my rescue and from the first phone call they were a joy to work with. Every job they worked on they were prompt, communicative, courteous and honest. They put up with my 10,000 questions and always treated me with respect (rather than just as an unknowledgeable girl). They are not the cheapest option out there, but they are far more reasonable than the bigger/impersonal companies. Add to it that they truly take pride in their work, with Flo-Maxx you happily get more than what you pay for. Due to the number of issues this old house had I probably know Joe and his team better than I know my neighbors. Boss Man Joe, Martin, Kevin, Hassan, Mario, Elias, Felix, David and Luis were all a delight to work with. It didn't matter if it was sunny/60, thunderstorms, or snowing; weekday or weekend, they always showed up with a great attitude and ready to help. Special props to Martha too for being the gate keeper of it all and answering my many phone calls. Long story short, I will hands-down always recommend Flo-Maxx Sewer and Drain. Stop wasting time reading other reviews... just call them now. List of work done (so far) - Hydrojet to clear sewer back-up (twice), fixed leaking drain in laundry sink, replaced water heater & expansion tank, replaced ancient flood control system with lift station"

"This company was recommended by a plumber friend of ours who was out of town when our problem (all the toilets backing up to the top of the bowl and a little coming up the shower drains) occurred.  When I called, I was actually able to speak with him, was very easy to talk to, gave us the same diagnosis as what our friend had said (either a clogged or broken sewer drain pipe) and a specific range of what the cost would be.  Set up the appointment and he was there promptly when he said he would be, evaluated the situation, gave us the price and basically worked the whole day on the repair (had to dig approx. 5 ft. down in front of our foundation to get to the pipe).  I felt he was professional, courteous and efficient and completed the job to my satisfaction.

"I would like to thank Mariano and crew from Chicago Basement Systems for the very efficient work they performed in my home crawl space. They replaced my failed sump pump and drain tile; installed a Sani-Dry Sedona dehumidifier; installed a backup battery; installed steel beams and piers; installed a waterproofing membrane on the crawl space floor; and encapsulated the entire crawl space. Now I don't smell odors seeping from my crawl space, and my house no longer shakes when cars drive over the city speed bump outside my house. Also, I can now use my clean dry crawl space for extra storage. Thank you Chicago Basement Systems for peace of mind knowing that this project has a lifetime transferrable warranty. I highly recommend Chicago Basement Systems for crawl space repairs!"

"The toilet was leaking at the hosepipe and we were up during the night dumping water.  Charlie came a day later than promised to turn off the valve which wouldn't move when we tried to turn it. He said he'd return the next day, but didn't and didn't call. Charlie claimed he had an emergency job he was doing. In spite of this, he said he'd come to us early before going to that job. Again, he didn't and didn't call .It took 5 days like this to get him here and the job done. After the toilet was installed, he told us the stack pipe couldn't take much more if we needed the toilet taken out again.  Had he said something before, we would have asked our condo assn. to get  stack pipe work done.
Our bill was $300; he said he'd discount it to $250; we reminded him of the 25% discount he'd offered.  He then charged $225.

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

The regulations around whether drain pipe installers need to hold licenses or certifications differ based on where you live and the type of drain pipe installed. Municipalities have varying rules and regulations about who can and can’t perform plumbing work. However, we recommend hiring a certified plumber to install or modify your drain lines. Licensed plumbers will perform a high-quality, professional installation, which translates to a lower risk of clogs and leaks in the future. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to confirm the license status of your potential plumber before hiring them to install your drain pipe.

Yes, it’s possible to install a sewage ejector pump outside rather than in a basement. However, there may be some extra steps involved, including running pipes from the inside to the outside of your home and digging (and re-filling) a hole for the basin. If you aren’t comfortable with this type of work, contact a plumbing pro to handle it for you.

DIY is possible for basic setups. Professional installation ensures proper drainage and reliability.

Grinder pumps alone cost $300 on average. The average cost to install a new grinder pump is between $2,000 and $4,000, including the pump and labor. This price can also change based on the exact type of grinder pump you choose, labor costs in your area, and the power system your home currently has.

A sump pump can be added to an existing basement. To do this, you will need to use a jackhammer or sledgehammer to break up the concrete and dig a pit. You will also need to create a hole in your basement wall to run the discharge pipe through.
