We lost our detached garage in an emotionally charged fire in March of this year. We needed to rebuild as quickly as possible. We searched for garage builders and very few wanted to even show up. Some would only give estimated proposals by email. When a neighbor told us about Steele and Loeber we made a call. Brian showed up the next day personally and walked through the entire build with us. We trusted him so much we signed the contract on the spot. The pricing was reasonable, but the service was great! Brian kept us informed every step of the way. The people doing the concrete, the building and the electrical were quality and willing to communicate. The outcome was superb, and we were thrilled with the garage

I got Chris’ info from a coworker who had his deck installed by UpperDeck and he was very happy with the result. I saw the pictures and called Chris for the job. We met with Chris several times to plan the project before jumping into it. I threw him a curveball in that I needed not only an addition to my existing deck, but also wanted a dry storage place under the addition not visible. Chris tackled the challenge and knocked it out of the park, getting his concrete contact involved who dealt with a gnarly grade in the yard to get the concrete pad poured. The deck crew came in and did beautiful work…true craftsmen of their trade. Great guys in general to interact with and they paid so much attention to detail. Chris and his crew brought our half-developed vision and idea to reality plus more. These guys are great at what they do and I encourage anyone wanting a new deck to stop searching and call them

Absolute top-notch job: great quality workmanship, friendly and flexible carpenters. Would absolutely hire again.

After conducting extensive research, we selected Garage For You to build our garage and car port. Bob from Garage For You went into great detail discussing their work and my options. Communication was easy and direct. They worked within our budget. The craftsmanship and quality of the garage exceeded my high expectations. You can tell they take pride in their work, hence their great warranty. We'd highly recommend them

Thanks Mike and BLue Sky Builders, they built our awesome garage in 2003. Came out today for some framing and a small siding fix. Maintenance on both garage doors and three new openers. Outstanding !

They were on time and completed the work quickly. There was more work than expected and Robert provided several options. I would hire again.

Was the garage built well, overall? Yes. Was everything else a complete mess? Yes. Down payment in April 2021. Project not completed until July of 2022. There were a couple occasions where absolutely nothing was happening for 2 months at a time. Numerous messages unreturned or returned very late, sometime until threats of getting a lawyer. At some point the excuse was covid, an other it was a death in the family, at another their office manager simply told me she "had not been feeling herself lately" and that was the cause of a couple of months delay. Survey took an insane 5 months. Not because surveyors were not available, they were, but they used *their* guy, who was apparently very backlogged. I was charged for the services of 2 people for the survey - It was an old man doing the work, while his wife sat in a lawn chair and read a book all day. I was quoted the garage when wood prices were at their absolute peak, and even though the lumber was ordered a year later they had the audacity to call and ask me for more money - despite them already denying me a discount for the obscene delays. When they initially told me they submitted plans to the village (after my numerous requests for status updates) I called the village and they had not submitted anything. First plans actually submitted to the village had multiple errors and I had to catch it to have them correct it. When the plans were finally accurately submitted and G4U were not responding to my requests for updates I called the village who said the plans were approved a while ago and G4U had not yet paid the permit or right of way. Go figure. By the time the permits finally came through it was now November with freezing temps, so the project now had to be pushed until early spring of next year. The demolition guy they sent, which is used by at least a couple of companies (saw him at a Blue Sky job last week) knocked over a wall of the old garage on my neighbor's fence, 5 minutes after I told him to please be careful to not do so, since it was clear that was going to happen. He also knocked over a wall of the old garage on my garden, wrecking my wire fencing and he couldn't care less about it. The cement sub-contract they used poured a terrible mix of concrete for the apron with awful seams and crumbling edges. I had to call them out on it and they came back to tear it out and repour it. The concrete work is not particularly great, with rough spots and out of plumb areas along the perimeter. I've also got a surface crack forming already, less 3 months after the pour. The concrete guys also splattered wet concrete on the siding of my house, which was an absolute pain to try and scrub off after hardened. Furthermore, the concrete guys had fried fish for lunch and they threw the bones in my bushes, which my dogs found and nearly choked on. The guys who did the framing worked quickly and professionally. However when the lumber was delivered they damaged my chain link fence and chain link gate. They later repaired the gate, but only after I discovered the damage a couple weeks later and called them out on it and noted it was on camera. Which by the way, from the security footage they clearly saw the damage when it happened and decided not to tell me about it. [This should be enough for you not to use them.] I told them specifically the brand/color of siding I wanted to use, which had 2 month lead time. They waited to order the siding until the day they started the framing, which led to another delay in finishing the project. The aluminum guy they used for the soffits, gutters, door frames was very good. I would hire him in a heartbeat. The electricians were good, however, not the installer's fault, I told the salesman Bob that I wanted to put a 100amp sub panel in the garage later for some EV chargers, so he up charged me to put a 3/4" line to the garage from the house - only to find out now that per code you can only run 60amps with a 3/4" conduit, so I'm stuck with that. Dozens of cigarette butts scattered through my yard during the project. Additionally... About the same time I made my down payment I recommended Garage For You to my neighbor because of the initial experience with the salesman. His project was also mired with delays and poor communication, to the point where I was embarrassed I had recommended them. At least his garage ended up getting finished in 2021

Process to plan for a new garage and get a quote went fine. Due to the bureaucracy in the DuPage County Building and Zoning department, a nightmare. Out $385 in permitting and processing fees due to the ridiculous demands of the county, and no garage. Zero stars for DuPage County, 5 stars for Brian at Steele and Loeber who did his best to get a garage built, but the demands made by the county made it impossible. 8/9/21 - Out of fairness to Brian at Steele and Loeber, I changed this review from three to five stars since the county made it impossible for him to build. The review is for his efforts. I'll have to review the county separately

  • DAL Builders
They did a perfect match with the white, off white, and beige colors for the siding. Everything went great, they were able to raise the overhang up about a quarter of an inch and stabilize it. It doesn't slant anymore! Very cooperative and communicative about scheduling and weather problems. I would recommend them

  • Bald Eagle Construction
We are very pleased with the finished product of the porch and sidewalk. We have received several comments from neighbors on how nice it makes the front of the house look. The owner is professional and the work that was completed appears to be quality work. We would use this company again if we have additional needs in the future. With that said, I do want to share a couple comments on a few things that could have went smoother or just share my suggestions to improve the overall experience for customers. My husband was able to contact and schedule the appointment for an estimate with the President, Kevin Woods, fairly quickly. He was very professional and submitted a written estimate within days via email. The price was higher than other estimates we had received and we were just getting ready for a vacation, so we waited a couple months to think about our options. Once we decided that we wanted to move forward, my husband contacted Kevin again to let him know that we wanted to go foward with the work. We were disappointed that Kevin advised that he would have to complete a revised estimate as it had only been a few months (May 12 - Aug 11). Kevin stated that this was due to an increase in the amount of work for that period. His new estimate came in approximately $490 more than the original. We decided to forego the rear patio and just move forward with the porch/sidewalk. Kevin did a good job of communicating a start day; however, he did so via email which we rarely check. We had given him my husband's personal email account so that he could send the estimate, but didn't realize that this would be used to commmunicate all future correspondence. When the contractors showed early one Friday morning, we were completely surprised as we hadn't seen the 2 emails that Kevin had sent earlier in the week advising us that they were coming. This is not a huge deal, but we would have preferred communications to come via phone calls so that we could be alerted more timely. The last comment I have is that after the work was complete, we started to pull out some old plants next to the new porch and found that the contractors had dumped alot of cement debris into our plant bed area. In addition, there was a lot of the debris next to our sidewalk as well. This will require a lot of work to clean up which we are't too happy about. In the end, we still are very happy with the finished product and would definately use Bald Eagle again for our concrete needs
