"Jon was AMAZING, and our backyard has been transformed from a dog-centric wasteland to a place for entertaining and relaxation. Jon is an artist who has great ideas about how to transform your space into something functional AND beautiful. He is a perfectionist with an eye for the small details. He is also extremely patient; our ideas and goals developed over the course of the project. He was flexible and always contributed great ideas and feedback based on his many years of experience. Working with Jon was the highlight of our summer-- not only because we have enjoyed our new outdoor space but also because we truly enjoyed spending time with him. I can't imagine there is anyone else in town that can match his quality of work and his eye for design. I would not hesitate to hire him again...and will be doing so next year when we tackle the front yard."

Family owned business servicing Champaign, Mcclean Vermillion counties and surrounding areas. In buisness for 10 years numerous business and customer references. Call Today!!!

"I had their service for over two years, yard only improved about 40%. Some areas stayed brown, grass wouldn't grow. One scheduled Reseeding with soil turnover was done during a big wind event of 35 miles and hour. What? Really? Had to make many calls to return. For a period, I added the Bush / Shrub Care, my Oriental Plum tree didn't improve. Leaves won't grow or fill out. Later, to be told by Tree Service Co. the tree was getting to much water. It was in the center of my front lawn, very visible. Tree had to be removed due to Root Rot. TruGreen never said anything. Also, I was told two of the brown areas had Grubs! TruGreen didn't tell me that either! I cancelled about 6 months ago, after a Supervisor failed to return my two call. I feel they should work with a gardening service, "Joint Venture" for better results and should also improve their communication. I hired them a year before getting an a Appraisal, sadly it didn't help!!! I'm a retired Senior and female."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should water the lawn after aerating. Now that you’ve loosened up the soil to better receive nutrients, it’s time to hydrate and fertilize your lawn. You’ll want to keep it evenly moist to promote healthy growth. Don’t drown your grass—too much of a good thing can reverse all the work you’ve done with aeration in the first place. But especially if you’ve overseeded and/or fertilized after aeration, you’ll want to ensure a moist soil layer to absorb those nutrients and fuel for new growth.

Yes! Aerating your lawn during its dormancy period—usually over winter and early spring—can cause a disturbance that the grass may not easily recover from. Instead, you should aerate your lawn during its peak growth period, usually in the late summer or early fall (though with some variation based on specific grass type).

If it’s been a few weeks and you haven’t seen anything pop up, double-check your seed packet and make sure you didn’t miss any steps. Did they need cold stratification (putting seeds in the freezer and then transferring to water before planting)? Do they have an exceptionally long germination period?

If you’ve followed all of the directions closely, you may just have had a bad batch of seeds. (Sadly, it happens.)

Start your search for a good lawn care company by finding some landscapers in your area; it might be a good idea to research companies that already work on your block, as they’re more likely to be able to fit you into their schedules, given your proximity. Next, conduct a search online to see if they have positive customer reviews, and try to avoid companies that have poor scores or a history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Finally, make sure to ask each company about pricing, contracts, scheduling, and any add-on services.

Almost all lawns can benefit from aeration, but not all lawns need aeration services. If your lawn has puddles of standing water, uneven grass growth, thinning grass, dries out quickly, or has a good amount of thatch, aeration is worthwhile. On the other hand, if your lawn is healthy and your soil isn’t too compact, you may be able to skip a year of aeration.
