Jon and Jennifer Ellis launched Finest Home Inspection in 2016. Jon, who performs the inspections and writes the inspection reports, spent the prior 18 years building, maintaining, and inspecting custom homes. He has managed and overseen the work of the full array of sub-contractors, from electricians and plumbers to HVAC and roofers, ensuring the integrity of the building process, that home owners’ desires are met, and helping them understand the significance of the different options available to them. With an eye for detail and a love of building, Jon has the experience to understand the relationship of the different systems in your home and the critical points to watch for. While fluent in the language of the various trades, Jon is able to clearly explain the details of your home to those of us who may not be. He will use clear, concise terms that enable you to understand your home and what it needs as well as lots of pictures to bring your report to life. Jon at Finest Home Inspection was great. He walked us through the inspection and his findings on site as well as answered our specific questions about the house. Our inspection report was provided the same day and the radon test results were provided as soon as they were available. He let us know what he wasn't able to check because there were tenants living in the house. He gave us his honest opinion on the house when we asked him. It can be difficult to assess the thoroughness of a home inspection, but now that we've been living in our home for a while, I am confident our home inspection was thorough. We haven't run into any issues that were not addressed in the home inspection. I would recommend Finest Home Inspection.

Both Jon and Jennifer were great to work with. From our first phone call to them to follow-up after the inspection, they were easy to reach and a pleasure to communicate with. Totally satisfied from start to finish. Received a prompt response from Jon Ellis to my initial inquiry, and was able to schedule the inspection a few days later. The inspection itself went exceedingly well. Jon was thorough, professional, and courteous, he explained what he found during the inspection, and the next day I received an email with a link to the formal inspection report. The pricing was very fair. In summary, my experience with Finest Home Inspection has been nothing short of excellent and I will definitely use them again should the need arise.

I made an appointment with Finest Home Inspection to have Jon inspect an older house that belongs to my family and is in need of some repairs. I can't comment on the inspection he did because he recommended that I not get one at this time. The house clearly has some foundation issues and Jon let me know I better get those checked first before paying for any other inspections. He did take a look at my areas of concern and pointed out some things that need to be addressed right away, and he gave me some very helpful advice. For this he charged me $0, even though I offered to pay him at least a nominal fee for his time and advice. Jon also helped me out by referring me to a structural engineer who can assess the condition of the foundation. So, since he talked me out of hiring his services for now, I am not able to rate them specifically. But what I am able to do is say that there is zero doubt in my mind who I will contact the moment I decide to have a house inspected in Champaign. I will hire Finest. Jon is personable and knowledgeable and I'm quite sure he does a thorough inspection and writes up an excellent report. If you're looking for someone to inspect a house you're thinking of buying or selling, Finest is a great choice. Highly recommended!

Timely, thorough He even went in a WET crawlspace and took pictures. Detailed report with what was inspected and whether or not repair/replacement was required. Advice given about what seller could probably do and what required a professional.

It was really good. He took several hours to look over the home which I appreciated since we were buying an older home. His report was very detailed and helped us to know what needed to be fixed right away and what needed to be monitored. I would definitely hire him again.

Very impressed with Finest Home Inspections. They were able to get my home inspection scheduled in a very timely manner. Jon called me the day of the inspection and went over the results. He then emailed me the report the next day. The report is easy to read and has color photos to help explain his point. His service is very fairly priced in my opinion. The seller of the home actually asked me about his services for when he buys a home. Highly recommended.

Finest Home Inspection did a great job going through our potential new house and made the proper recomended repairs. We had the same house tested for Radon. This company made it very clear to use what they were testing and the health hazard of Radon. Our house tested high for Radon. We had to use another company to perform the Radon Mitigation. Finest Home Inspection came back out to retest our Radon. When looking for a home inspector. I would use Finest Home Inspection again. Great company.
