"Midwest arrived on time and 2 men did the job. It took them about 4 hours to complete the task of removing the old tint, clean the window and area, then apply the new window tint. Of course our windows are larger than normal windows that you see in most houses. Our windows run (73" x 73"), they are considered custom windows, because they run so large. However Midwest did a superior job installing our window tint. They didn't leave any seams in the middle of our window tint. Which is great. Our tint carries a warranty, which we are very happy with. The men who did the installation, applied the window tint to 6 windows and they cleaned up all of they mess. They didn't leave any dirt behind for us to deal with and I was very happy to see that happen. Normally, when someone installs something in your home, any mess they make, they expect the homeowner to clean it up, but that isn't the case with Midwest. Their installers clean up after themselves. Personally, I appreciate it. We will use Midwest in the future and refer them to friends & family. We love the look of the windows with the new tint on them. They really make a big difference when the sun is shinning on them. They really cut down on the amount of UV rays and the extra heat which does not pass through amymore. The window tint helps with our cooling (air conditioning) bills. We know Midwest saved us money and gave us a great price on our new window tint. They did a terrific job and we are very happy with the windows. The installation was easy and we didn't have any problems.

"The installers were great. The salesperson made promises that he did not keep and he missed a window. When the person came to measure he also didn’t catch that I was having all my windows done except one. The windows look great. The response when I notified the co that one window was missed was very fast but added to my cost."

Small jobs welcome

".Bob, the owner of Mr. Handyman of Metro East, was right on time to estimate the job.  When I contracted with them they set a date to try  to accomplish the work but could not accomplish on the first visit (had to go higher on the side of the house).  During the initial work they discovered additional leaking that would take some equipment he did not bring,  So they finished what they could and rescheduled for the next week to complete the job.  The office always kept me informed as to times they would arrive,
The second visit went very well.  The leaks did not go all the way to the top windows.  They replaced some damaged plywood backing and corner 2x4, applied Tveck, taped around the windows, replaced the siding, and then moved a downspout (connecting it to a recently installed drain line under a new sidewalk).
The next day it rained quite heavily and I got no leaks into the walkout basement. They even made a followup call on Monday to see if I had had any problems.

Windows questions, answered by experts

A garden window is about 16 inches to 24 inches deep. This extra space makes room for small potted plants, which is how the garden window, also called a greenhouse window, got its name. Because garden windows jut outward from the house, they need to be installed in a place where they won’t obstruct walkways.

While plywood will keep winds and debris from shattering your windows from the outside, window film can help protect your windows from the inside. Window film can keep a window from shattering. If your windows break, the film can hold the shards of glass in place, reducing the risk of cuts.

While you may sometimes see window film marketed as "hurricane window film," note that it doesn't provide sufficient hurricane protection on its own. It's no substitute for plywood, storm windows, or hurricane shutters.

Yes, every window needs a lintel. The lintel is necessary for redistributing the load above the window to the walls around the window. Windows aren’t meant to support a load, so lintels are an important part of a window installation. If you go to replace your windows and discover there are no lintels, you may need a window company or structural engineer to install lintels for your new windows.

Yes, with modifications or the use of adapter kits for tricky placements.

The average lifespan for a casement window is around 20 years, but some higher-end casement windows with more durable frame materials can last up to around 40 years before you need to replace them. You’ll need to carry out routine maintenance and window cleaning—and, on occasion, casement window restoration—to extend the lifespan of your casement windows. But they tend to wear more slowly than windows with sliding sashes because the weatherstripping sees minimal friction.
