Being the perfectionist that I am, I immediately thought, no way, I want a straight bark. But then I thought, perhaps its the technician that selected the tree - perhaps he was thinking of off loading a tree with a slightly curved bark, and perhaps the client won’t mind. And I say that because a professional landscaper knows customers prefers a symmetrical straight bark. So I decided, instead of rejecting the sapling and sending it off to its potential demise, I decided to keep her and nourish her. Once she becomes a full grown beautiful tree, I’ll always reflect on the story of her arrival to her new home, and how I adopted and embraced her difference in having a curved bark. BTW, I named the tree Bendy 🙂 Therefore, reiterate to your landscaper a straight bark is preferred."

"Rivera Concrete Paving's $8,500 bid became $11,000. Owner Magdiel Rivera adds charges after you're committed and doesn't follow through after payment. Cost increases: I mentioned roots upfront - he said equipment could handle it, then charged $450. Said grading unnecessary, then created false urgency claiming we HAD to grade before concrete. Later said could grade after. Added $1,800. Crew broke drainage pipes, charged me $250. Couldn't move AC condenser despite my asking during estimate. Payment tactics: Said pay "when satisfied." Then requested half early, then full payment before done. When I said work incomplete, he asked "Don't you trust me?" then broke promises. Broken promises: Walkway cured wrong, no follow-up. $1,800 grading included 3-month landscaping - no communication. Promised debris cleanup, later said not responsible. Damaged 4-month fence, couldn't repair properly, paid $300 after pressure. Dismisses costs at estimate, adds them later. Makes promises, then excuses."
