"Mindia is a great and pleasant guy who really cares about his work. We've had him come by for 2 intricate repair jobs (cracked calacatta marble fireplace surround, and cracked sandstone mantle & stone hearth floor damage). He worked quickly and quietly, left everything immaculate and even made sure our kids weren't napping before turning on the vacuum (which he then thoughtfully placed outside the house using a long hose to minimize noise). As importantly he did a really phenomenal and careful job, his restoration of the veined marble pattern when fixing a crack is truly a little work of art. We thought our cracked marble would never look the same again, and since his visit we have literally forgotten there was ever a problem. Pricing is fair and reasonable too. Highest recommendation! Thank you!"

"I had a small project that involved increasing the diameter of holes for three shower valves from 3/4 inch to 1-5/8 inches. This involved cutting into marble tile. Maurizio and his team were very courteous, professional, expedient and efficient. They did a fantastic job."

"Chris went above and beyond to restore our shower. Chris cleaned it, sanitized it and used his gift of handiwork and talent to help a family urgently who really needed this repaired quickly, honestly and properly. Chris is a wonderful person and professional to work with, a strong listener, but more importantly, delivers on the promise for an impeccable result and timely outcome. I strongly recommend Chris. I will look forward to asking Chris again to consider other projects here. Chris, thank you for making us a priority and sharing your talent with the world. We really needed this completed and I thank you. A+++++++"

"Mike D. was here today to repair grout in two of my bathrooms. Mike also re-caulked areas that were in bad shape and brought the bathtub and tile floor back to life. The improvements look like I have new bathrooms. I am very pleased with the outcome and definitely recommend “The Grout Medic” and Mike D."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

To remove cloudiness from marble, use equal parts baking soda and water to form a paste. Apply it to the surface, allow it to sit for at least two hours, then wipe with a microfiber cloth. Another option is adding a couple of dish soap drops to warm water and wiping the surface after you’ve applied it to the surface. You may also consider using a liquid stone cleaner.

Sintered stone and quartz are both low-maintenance materials resistant to water damage and scratching. However, quartz can be damaged by temperatures over 150°F, while sintered stone is heat-resistant up to 300°F. Both materials are comparable in cost, so ultimately, the decision will hinge on your preferences.

Overall, granite tends to cost more than marble. Prices for each material will fluctuate depending on the source of the stone, your location, shipping costs, and the thickness of the material. Labor to install marble or granite countertops typically ranges from $35 to $45 per hour. Granite and marble tile and slab costs compare as follows:

  • Marble tile: $7–$10

  • Granite tile: $5–$15

  • Marble slab: $25–$60

  • Granite slab: $50–$100

The frequency for sealing marble countertops depends on several factors, including the quality and color of the stone, the type of sealant used, and the amount of traffic the surface receives. Marble has a porous surface that requires sealing to maintain its shine and resist scratches. As a general rule, you should seal countertops at least once a year. However, for heavily used surfaces, like those in a busy kitchen or family bathroom, you may need to reseal them every three to six months. Conversely, countertops in a rarely used guest bathroom might only need resealing every few years.

There are a few ways to remove calcium buildup in your pipes, but the most natural option involves vinegar, baking soda, and boiling water. To use this method, pour 1/2 cup of vinegar down the drain you're trying to clear, then follow it up with 1/2 cup of baking soda. Place a rag over the drain to create a light seal and leave it for 30 minutes. Remove the rag, then pour a pot of boiling water into the drain. After the water drains, wipe everything down with a sponge.
