"I hired Guillermo and his crew to remove a large pine tree w/ stump grinding. The price was better than other tree removal services I have used in the past and they did an excellent job. I will definitely reach out to AMG again."

"Amruss called and give me a 1-hour window for their employee to arrive. He arrived within the window and was friendly and polite. He used a ladder and spent about 2 hours power-washing my home and did a thorough job. I would use Amruss again for this service, and I would recommend them to anybody."

"Kurt was very reliable and patient while listening to my ideas for planting. He made some suggestions that I really liked. Even after the work was done, he followed up with some watering instructions that were appreciated. I would rehire for any additional work I might need."

"Dean and his crew are the BEST! He was very thoughtful in his landscape design and truly designed a stunning yard for us. Breath-taking flower and plant choices make our backyard an oasis for us to enjoy. Having moved from a house in Newton, Ma with a backyard the size of a postage stamp, I really had very little knowledge about gardens and landscaping. Thank goodness we found Dean. He really cares about the job and made excellent recommendations throughout the whole process. We know that all of the sprinklers and lighting he put in will last for ages because he cares about the work. He is one of a kind- if you are planning on fixing up your yard- he is the one to call!"

"Bowline is the best tree service around. Customer service is great Kevin is kind, honest and hardworking. Him and his crew have cut two very large trees down for us and did the stump grind in the past 2 weeks. They do a wonderful job, they clean up, they show up on time and his prices are very fair. I will recommend this company to anyone looking for work time and time again. Thank you so much Kevin for working with us!"

"They were prompt, respectful and patient with my questions before (and during) the work. There was an old tree stump in the yard that they battled for hours to level the ground and the results have been great. I feel wonderful being able to actually use the front lawn and the neighbors have appreciated the clean look as well.

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

Bradford pear trees bloom in early spring with small white flowers. They typically flower for at least two weeks. In bloom, these trees often emit a foul-smelling odor that’s often compared to rotting fish. Bradford pear trees will sometimes bloom in the fall due to drought or other stress-inducing conditions.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

Carefully pruning small roots no thicker than three inches in diameter won’t harm the tree. However, cutting larger roots may impact the tree's stability and nutrient absorption. It's advisable to consult an arborist or tree care professional to evaluate the root's size, the tree's health, and the potential impact of cutting. Proper tree pruning techniques and timing can minimize damage, but larger root removal may necessitate expert guidance to avoid compromising the tree's overall health and stability.
