"The work went extremely well. The concrete is now properly raised and sloped for drainage. The gap between the slab and my front stairs is also sealed. It looks great. I highly recommend Perma-Seal."

"I called US Waterproofing. They were able to schedule me quickly and sent tech John Shea, who arrived promptly. He was very methodical and logical about going down a list of possible causes. The 3rd thing he tried was testing whether a long drain outside the building was clogged. Another contractor (see Trojan Plumbing review) had said the drain was fine by just looking and not testing. After John told me the drain was clogged I took off all the covers. It was completely clogged. I ended up taking 5 gallons of sludge out of the trough and another 2 out of the drain where i could reach. The next day I had a plumber rod the drain 25 ft. and he took another 3 gallons of sludge out. The drain runs fine now and a couple of light rains have caused no problem. John was with me over an hour and did not charge a dime."

"Very well, our home is more leak proof / water tight than when we bought it some 30 years ago... and is anticipated to remain so for another 30+ years. All the mentioned work occurred during 3 visits spread across some 18 months; but none of the visits required more than a single day to complete. Work was conveniently scheduled and the worker(s) always arrived on time; if not 15 minutes early. A year after our last work was done (the poly-jacking), The Real Seal, at my request but at no charge, even sent out a technician to replace/redo some concrete plugs in those poly-jack holes that had popped out probably due to outdoor temperature swings."

"These guys are amazing! They took a concrete pad, cut it in half and raised one section to create a step. This allowed for easy entry into our building instead of a high stair. Secondly, they leveled a 50 foot long span of sidewalk where each section tipped a different direction. It was a mess and they made it smooth and hazard free."

"Outstanding service, 2 young men came and lifted my front stairs that are solid concrete and 6 steps that are curved. One side had sunk approx. 5 inches and when complete it was perfectly level and just like new!!! Cleaned everything and even helped to remove plants that were compromised. Highly recommend!!!!"

"We were in the inspection process of buying a house, and Greg agreed to do an estimate, even though we knew the crawlspace might have been a deal breaker for us since it was in pretty bad shape.  The home inspector suggested a vapor barrier.  I searched Angie's list and found Greg and his crew.
Another local company I called would not come out to do an estimate since it was only a home inspection, and we weren't 100% sure we were going to buy the house, let alone complete the work after the purchase.
Upon talking with Greg the first time, I had a feeling that he was going to do a good job and be easy to work with.  He was very straight forward and truthful.
The crawlspace was a dirt floor, and probably hadn't been touched in over 20 years.  It was dank, wet, full of bugs as evidenced by the webs and old traps.  It was also had the beginnings of some rather serious issues from the neglect.  The bones were good, but it was definitely time to dry it out and start over.  Originally, I was looking to get the sealed with concrete and Greg suggested a new material, a spray on material, to use instead.  He assured me it would be strong enough to be used for storage items.  It would also save us 4 inches of clearance over the concrete, which makes a difference in a crawl space.  I decided to go with it, even though it was a brand new method at the time for Greg and his team.
We decided to move forward and buy the house and we also decided to hire Greg and team to help transform the space in to a working storage area.
I could not be more happy with the result.  Greg's team showed up and immediately got to work.  Even though the house was not being lived in at the time and other contractors were there, the entrance and work areas were covered in plastic which is good thing as the guys coming out of the crawl were covered in mud.  I was surprised out how swiftly the crew got to work.  They got the job done quickly, and were extremely professional throughout the entire process.
After a fantastically wet spring, it turns out that a foundation crack was causing some very minor seepage from the outside after all of the work was complete.  Other houses in the area had their entire basements and crawls completely flooded.  Greg came back and sealed a very small crack free of charge to finish up the job.
I wish I had more crawlspaces to give Greg and his team more work.  I will definitely use them again should the need arise."

"In addition to correcting the shoddy work performed by Basement Flood Protector, since BFP refused to, Crawlspace and Basement Waterproofing Solutions, Villa Park, IL, went far above their quote by installing drainboard, dealing with the ejection line and bubble pot -- not part of the job, as well as cutting and removing an old oil tank from another crawlspace and encapsulating the space.  Brian also offered advice on using a Ramset powder actuated nail driver in their concrete, they got me a spray foam kit at cost and dropped it off.  All of that for no extra charge possibly because they seemed to feel bad about my experience with their "competitor", and most of all, they made sure I was comfortable with their work.  I have already contacted them for some new work that is pending, and will do the same if anything else goes wrong with Basement Flood Protector's equipment or work.  I have no expectation that Basement Flood Protector would stand by anything else any more than they already did, and I could do without the abusive rudeness.  Save yourself the cash and hassle.  Call Brian at Crawlspace and Basement Waterproofing Solutions first."

"Luis of Designer's Concrete set up an appointment to make an estimate, and arrived at the appointed time. I had already had the utilities located. We talked it over, and he explained to me what was necessary, and the reasons for the cost estimate of $1000. He said he would take care of getting the city permit for the project, and he stayed in contact with me throughout this part of the process. He knew exactly what the city needed from me. Once the permit was given, Luis arrived with his crew, and laid in the form. The city had to inspect the form and foundation for the pad, but once they had, the crew returned the next day and finished the job. The longest part was waiting for the city permit (about a week). When that went through, it was only three days until it was finished. Luis told me how to cure the cement before I drilled into it to install the shed. Luis accepted the Angie's List coupon. He followed up with a call a few days after it was complete. They did not mix the cement on my property, but had it delivered. Personally, it seemed more expensive than I thought it would be, but that was probably just my ignorance going into such things. Overall, it was a great experience working with Luis and Designers Concrete."

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Pros often use mudjacking or polyurethane foam injection to level a sunken concrete patio. Both methods lift the slab by filling voids beneath it. After properly compacting the soil beneath it to prevent future settling, the concrete may need to be removed and re-poured for severe sinking.

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

Generally speaking, push piers—or steel piers—are the best option for underpinning, as they reach down to solid bedrock to find support for your foundation rather than relying on soil, which could be subject to the same issues as the soil directly below your foundation. However, the best underpinning method for your home depends on your location, how far down the bedrock is, and the type of soil in your area. Helical piers are usually the best option for sandy soil or in areas where the bedrock is too deep to use steel piers.

There is no real alternative to underpinning, although mudjacking and polyjacking are other repair methods that can add support from underneath your foundation. Rather than placing supportive piers under your structure, these involve pumping a material under your slab to lift a sunken section back into its original position. Polyjacking, in particular, is sometimes a suitable solution for stabilization issues under slab foundations, but underpinning is often accepted as the best and most permanent solution.

Polyjacking can be a permanent solution to sunken concrete if you also address the underlying issue—like poor drainage—at the same time. The polyurethane material itself can last as long as or even outlast the concrete you’re lifting it with. Your sunken concrete issue will likely return if you don’t couple polyjacking with proper drainage to prevent future soil movement and sinking.
