"Noah Deck Repair did an outstanding job on repairing, power washing and staining my deck. They were professional and were able to accommodate my schedule. They also were able to expedite the process given that rain was in the forecast in the upcoming days. I highly recommend them for any deck repairs or staining project that you might have."

"The job was just to replace the panels on the fence in the backyard. Robert came out for an estimate and told me that the posts were fine and I only had to get new panels and he'd put them up. We set an appt for 8:00. At 8:45 that morning, I had to call to see if he was coming. He said he was on his way. Having made special arrangements to be here at 8:00, this lack of communication and punctuality really irritated me. Rob finally showed after 9:00. He didn't stop in to say he was here - he just got to work. I'm glad I didn't have any special instructions for the job! In the end, the fence looks nice. It is almost all level side to side but not really front to back. I assume that this is because the posts are no longer square - a fact that I would have appreciated having been notified about and given the opportunity to rectify. All in all, this is a passing job because you really can't tell by looking at the fence that there is anything wrong. And the cost was so much lower than any other estimate that I got that it's hard to complain."

"We HIGHLY recommend Andy and Seasonal Landscape Solutions. The block retaining wall that Andy installed is beautiful and the quality is excellent. The retaining walls turned out so much better than we expected. Andy and his crew also tied the new block wall into the existing block wall perfectly. Andy is both professional and personable."

"The owner, Robert Buehler met me very early in the day making it convenient for me and provided an E-mailed quote by that evening. His schedule was  followed as promised, finishing on the day agreed. His people were skilled, neat and polite. Their trim work was virtually perfect and repairs to look indistinguishable from new. They installed a new ceiling  over plaster flawlessly. The room shows completely as new. Extra care was extended for fixtures but its the repair to the vaulted ceiling that truly separates R.F.B. A Complete Drywall Co. from the rest. The result was just fabulous. We need to have the deck done and some other outside work and wouldn't consider using anyone but RFB"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Increases livable area and enhances aesthetic, often boosting property appeal.

The best way to sand a deck is by cleaning it, sanding the boards and stairs with 60- or 80-grit sandpaper, and sanding the railings and posts with 80-grit sandpaper. You should sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid damaging the timber. When sanding your deck, use medium pressure and aim for an even sand. Pressing too hard with a sander can damage decks, as most are softwoods.

In the majority of cases, you don’t need regulatory permission or permits to remove decking components and materials. However, the exception is if you live in or near a wildlife conservation area, which could require permits and consent prior to beginning the demolition. Check with a local regulatory agency for more information.

Deck stairs should have at least three stringers rather than two. The recommended minimum width for stairs is 36 inches, and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors recommends at least three cut stringers to provide sufficient support on wood decking stairs of this width. Generally, stringers should be a maximum of 16 inches apart for wood decking and 12 inches apart for more flexible composite decking.

The best time to paint your deck is when temperatures are neither too cold (below 60 degrees) nor too hot (above 85 degrees). Always paint your deck when there’s no risk of rain. For fast-drying paint like acrylic or latex, ensure your deck can dry for at least four hours. Oil-based paints take longer to dry and may require 48 hours to completely cure.
