"Requesting a quote from and then hiring Illinois Tree Service was quick and easy. Their quote was the same as another large operation in town, but they didn't need to bring massive equipment into the yard as the other company had in the past. A large crew of men worked safely and efficiently for about six to seven hours to remove both old cottonwoods and grind their stumps. They cleaned up beautifully as they worked and left the yard free of sticks and branches. I would highly recommend them."

"2/14/26 Nic Trees Fidel's service definitely deserves 5 stars! He climbed up the tree to cut down and remove a huge tree branch that was blown and fallen onto our roof. He worked very skillfully and carefully to section the branch and lowered the trunk pieces onto the ground away from our house. It’s possible, although a lot depends on the cause of damage and what steps you take. If the remaining parts of the maple tree are alive and not under attack by disease or pests, they can often be saved even if large portions of the maple tree have died. Gently shaping a tree like this can, over time, correct problems. You can also find growth inhibitors to spray on a tree to stop it from growing too rapidly, but use these sparingly if at all.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.
