I'm naturally drawn to life experiences, curiosity and kindness, so being organized and helping people get organized isn't just about sorting things in boxes or creating a pretty picture in your cabinets and closets. It's about getting to know people and making progress not just with their stuff, but with their lives. With me, you'll find someone who won't just help you get your "stuff" in order. I am someone that will try to understand you and will help you find the best solutions that will endure. With over 20 years of retail experience including Stockroom Organization, I have mastered the art of functional space planning. Whether in your home or business, I can implement a plan that will help you get started, with short and long term goals, for those tasks that don't fit into your every day life. I can take the task on by myself, with you or a team of organizers to complete it in a timely fashion. Call me for a free 30 minute phone consultation. Let's set up a system that alleviates any frustration, sets you up for success and allows you to enjoy life without worrying about what is still on your to-do list. I offer competitive rates to fit any budget.

We provide a high-quality moving service for people around Melrose Park, IL. Our services extend to the Chicago area and up to 100 mile radius around it.

"I have moved over a half a dozen times in my life. This is the worst company I have ever done business with. I should have suspected as much when they were able to book my move within a few days, and they gave me an estimate that was considerably less than the competitors. I learned my lesson the hard way! Here's the sequence of events. Please learn from my experience and never, never choose this awful, low rate company. They are professional scammers: 1. I set up my services and received confirmation of a deposit for 50 dollars charged to my credit card for booking the services. No other instructions were sent to me via text or mail until the evening before the move. 2. The evening before the move, I received a confirmation email for the services, including confirmation on the rate for four movers and instructions about the need to pay cash and that payment would be due before the truck was unloaded. I have to say that this was never communicated to me ahead of time and if I had known, I would have considered a second opinion at the time of the booking. Who pays for a service before the job is completed? Only somebody who is planning to scam you, that's for sure! 3. The movers showed up on time, but only with three movers instead of 4. I was notified that the rate "would be adjusted." You have to realize, however, that this significantly slowed down the process, as you had only two people loading for the first 3 hours and one person doing the unassembling of the furniture. The fourth person showed up 3 hours later, and then the "4-person" rate started counting at that point according to the foreman. 4. When we arrived at the destination, I proceeded to pay $1060 (it was $1057, but he had no change) after the foreman gave me his estimate of time. I knew they were going to go over because it was only the foreman assembling things back together (that he personally chose to unassembled completely). I still don't understand why he had to take a dining table entirely apart. He then didn't even know how to put back together, and it took him twice as long, causing damage to the legs of my very fine dining table. He also chose to take down apart an Ikea sofa totally, when it was probably not necessary to do so, and he was unable to put it back together. 5. Of note, I was helping the whole time, taking down the padding, moving boxes around, etc., trying to expedite the process. 6. As I realize that things were going to go over the estimated time I was given (4:15 pm), I decided to head over to the ATM to get more cash for the balance due and for tips to the crew. The foreman told me he calculated just another half hour and that "I had to pay for that half hour right then and there." I explained that I was going to the ATM and he became insulting and he said that if I didn't pay right there and then for the extra half hour, he would have to stop working. I told him that I didn't have money, so he proceeded to unload the rest of my belonging and just left him at the curve. He refused to assemble the remaining Ikea sofa, they did not unpack the TV; they did not move the remaining boxes to the corresponding places or even dispose of the trash. 7. I contacted the owner by email and by phone. I call multiple times for several weeks and never got a response. I requested a copy of my signed contract and never got a response. 8. I have read other reviews and realized they have a similar modus operandi. They request to get paid in advance, and if the job goes over the estimated time and there is no more cash to pay in advance, they leave the job unfinished. However, none of this is explained ahead of time. The furniture is not well cared for. They are rude, and they do not respond when you attempt to contact them. They should be put out of business. I have already filed a complain to the consumer's bureau."

FAQs for moving projects in Chicago, IL

Before hiring a moving company to help you with your move, there are a few things you will want to ask, including:

  • Is there anything your company won’t move?

  • Does workers’ compensation cover the crew?

  • Will you disassemble and reassemble the furniture?

  • Are there packing restrictions?

  • Can you guarantee my delivery date?

  • Can you provide references?

  • What do you charge extra for?

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Moving insurance helps protect your belongings from damage or loss during the moving process. This policy can help reimburse you either part of or the total amount of your belongings that become damaged during the moving process. Moving insurance has three main options: full value protection, released value protection, and third-party or separate liability coverage. Speak with your moving company to determine what is covered under each policy and their cost to determine the best fit for your needs.

The average cost to hire movers is between $920 and $2,530 for local moves and $2,700 to $10,000 for long-distance moves. The number of movers you need, the total mileage you’re moving, your moving date, and ease of access to your home all factor into the bottom line.

For example, if you only need one or two movers, you can expect to pay $25 to $50 an hour. However, if you need four or more movers, that charge increases to $100 to $200 an hour. Moving specialty items, like a piano or large aquarium, will incur additional charges.

In the world of professional moving, moves are broken up into two categories—a local move and a long-distance move. A local move is anything considered under 100 miles, regardless if you’re crossing over state lines. A long-distance move is anything over 100 miles, even if you stay in the same state or location.

If you’re hiring movers to help with your move, there are a few things that you can do ahead of time to set yourself (and the moving company) up for success.

  • Donate or sell items ahead of time to lessen the amount to move

  • Alert your neighbors (or apartment management) of the move so they can plan for the moving truck to arrive

  • Pack your belongings securely ahead of your moving date

  • Disconnect any appliances prior to the moving date

  • Clear a path for the movers to move freely inside your home

  • Dispose of hazardous materials

  • Discuss with your moving coordinator where to unload the boxes
