"I have used Touchstone Group Construction on multiple projects in our vintage Greystone two-flat on Chicago's southside: new bath on 2nd floor that required a complete gut, variety of plumbing work throughout the entire building, complete reno of our basement install of Crown-Molding in 1st floor unit, install of light fixtures. We are so happy with results. The work is always fantastic, pricing is very competitive. This is a professional operation, they know what it takes to get the job done and they have the resources. And most importantly, renovation especially of a historic building always has surprises. At all times, they never back away from the issue and always, always come up with solution that is reasonable and affordable. I am getting ready to engage with Touchstone Group Construction again for some final issues that we need to address in this historic property and then.....we are going to buy another apartment building, probably a 3 flat and we already know exactly who we are going to call for all remodeling and issues. In the end, they not only met our expectations, they exceeded them. Icon assembled a talented team to execute the building of our house. They selected a group of subcontractors that had the necessary talents and attention to detail to be able to execute the detailed design that we entrusted to them. The efforts of the subcontractors were carefully guided by our superintendent, Mike P. In the office, Shawna H. did a great job navigating our project thru the challenging City review process. We had several challenges during the project, and the Icon team dealt with them in a positive manner. "The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"We had planned to remodel first and second floor bathrooms of our 3 flat someday. Someday became now when a major drain leak from the second floor toilet meant both bathrooms would require demolition to fix the leak. 
We had definite ideas about what we wanted. We had done a small door replacement project with Pryor that had gone well, so we had established a bit of a working relationship with the company and with Mary in the office. We met with a designer recommended by Pryor and they provided some ideas but not a lot of changes to our overall approach. Ridas got involved as the project manager and we refined the detail plan and signed the contract.
When we met with Pete Pryor, he estimated 3 weeks for the work, 4 at the outside. Because of the nature of the project and age of the house (~100 years old) and our positive experience on the door project, we agreed to time and materials instead of fixed price for the project. in spite of some unexpected complexity in doing the demolition and a few changes on the fly, the 4 week time frame proved adequate. 
Ridas kept us informed of what was happening, responded to questions and requests for changes quickly. Despite the number of different trades involved, including sub-contractors, once work started, it moved along continuously with workers scheduled and actually arrived as planned and on time. Quality of work is excellent. When needed, workers stayed late to make sure things stayed on schedule. Plumbing and electrical work were done in a professional manner with improvement not only to current standards but unnecessary pipes were cleaned up and new conduits were placed in the most efficient routes.
Pryor is not the cheapest contractor but they have really lived up to the role of General Contractor, supplying expertise to manage the project and workers (their own and subcontractors), enabling us to worry about what we wanted, decorative and material choices and not have to ride herd on workers. Project has yielded high quality results with beautiful finish and upgrade of the bathrooms and of course fixed the plumbing leak that started this whole project.
