Hired them to rebuild front stairs and porch for an old two-flat in Chicago. Quick response, good quote. Came and finished on time. Excellent work. I asked for a recommendation for paint, and they do that too. Again, excellent communication and outstanding work. Would hire again no doubt.

About three years ago, DAL refinished our basement and did an absolutely AMAZING job, so when we decided to add a pantry to our kitchen this year, we knew just who to call! Tim is great to work with, and the two guys who did the install today were professional, kind, and smart as heck because they got these too tall cabinets to fit absolutely perfectly. We’d use them again for other work in a second!

DAL was excellent to work with and we are very happy with our finished front porch. Tim and Dave were responsive, reasonable, and executed on the work quickly while still delivering quality. Tim was also the only contractor we contacted who was willing to help us problem solve and discuss possible solutions for a weird space we were dealing with under the porch. We contracted DAL Builders to build our TimberTech deck and were so glad we did. This was our second time working with DAL Buildings. They had rebuilt our aging front porch four years ago. We were happy with their work then, and are happy with their work now. Tim was accessible and responsive and got our project scheduled quickly. The work was done without any hiccups and completed quickly and with good quality.

Very quick turnaround to get an appointment and a quote at the start of the job. They reviewed design and material options with us and were helpful with making those decisions. During the work they found some damage to the house framing where the new deck was going to be anchored, and they were able to repair that as well as bring in a drywaller to refinish the interior wall after, and were very upfront about the added scope of work / costs. New decks look great & feel solid!

DAL Builders had done a great job for us on two previous projects, so we knew they were dependable and did quality work. Once again, they came through for us. The floors are beautifully done and we’re really happy with the outcome. Tim is a devoted project manager, makes himself accessible, shares his expertise, and is on site as needed. DAL did great work with our big job! They did a front and back deck replacement with additional repairs (back basement wall was in bad shape once deck came off and front window under deck needed reframing). Tim was the single point-of-contact for all the teams: concrete team for the front pad and piers, carpenter team for all the deck work, back concrete pad and piers and wall rebuild, and additional drywall team for rebuild finishing. When the need for repairs was identified, Tim clearly explained the issue and laid out options with rough cost estimates. We went with DAL because they had done a deck down the street last year that looked really good, so we didn't really shop around - that said, they probably aren't the cheapest, but any additional cost is evident in the quality of work and ease of experience! Last note - it took most of a year from contract to build start, so plan ahead!

DAL builders rebuilt our back porch and their work was spectacular -- far exceeding our expectations. They were clear and communicative during the materials acquisition process and also with the permit process so, even with supply chain issues, we were always kept current on the timing of the project. The crew that completed the work (tear-down and rebuild) were a great bunch of guys. They were professional, clear, and hard working. Most notably is the clear fact that these guys are, truly, craftsmen. Their expertise and attention to detail is fantastic. We have other home projects "on deck" and DAL will, most certainly, be our first choice to have future work done. We are incredibly happy with both our experience and the end product.

This was the second time we've hired DAL Builders. They built a new outside back porch for us a few years ago, so we hired them again to put in an extra railing. Their work was done on time, of high quality, and at a fair price. They have our highest recommendation.

It went very well. The quality of work was high and communication was very good. DAL did a good job handling unexpected findings which came up in the demolition phase and explained what was going on.

We hired DAL to replace our existing wood deck with a composite one. They also replaced one of our gutters, and tuckpointed the masonry around the bottom of our house. Tim and his team were extremely professional, communicative, and did a wonderful job. The new deck looks fantastic. We’d definitely use DAL for another project.

This is the third time we've hired DAL Builders. They previously rebuilt our front porch and gut rehabbed our kitchen. We highly recommend them for the quality of their construction work, project management and working relationship with clients. We have come to trust DAL with our old 1910 house, which presents unique, often confounding (at least to us), challenges. DAL does quality work while advising us about what needs replacing/rebuilding and what doesn't. For example, our basement had decent framing, so we kept it, which was a huge savings. We have a good working relationship with Tim Larkin, our project manager at DAL. If there's a problem during a project, we trust that we can work through it. Still, it always helps to be flexible and take responsibility for communication. We experienced some pandemic-related delays. Start dates can be a little unclear (they depend on the progress of other DAL projects), but once started, Tim moves the work along. Regarding cost, we could pay less for work of lower quality, which we would regret, and I'm sure we could pay a lot more for work of similar quality. Tim is sensitive to cost issues and advises on how to keep costs down. Overall, the value is excellent, and we've been happy with the results. DAL's carpentry work has been outstanding -- our front porch and back stairs are beautiful, and our neighbor still raves about the plumb lines in our kitchen. Our newly rehabbed basement is fantastic; with Tim’s encouragement, we exposed three windows that had been covered up, including two under a porch/bay window. They let in a lot of light and are very attractive! Project management is strong overall. We appreciate the detailed estimates DAL provides. DAL will deliver on those details so be sure the estimates specify what you want. We've gotten to know DAL's subcontractors -- plumber, electrician, drywallers & painters, roofers, etc. They are all very good at what they do. Fostering good communication with this only helps. We really like working with Tim Larkin. He gives us good ideas, is responsive to problems, and is flexible around the needs of the project, which can change. He’ll keep the project on track, manage the subcontractors, etc. I try to keep track of and communicate about details with Tim -- this helps when a project is extensive or has multiple parts, as this most recent one did. It takes a team to pull everything off!
