"We badly needed insulation in our attic. We got three quotes. Weather Shield was not only the most reasonable, but the only company in which the owner both gave us the quote and installed the insulation with colleague. We could not have asked for more professionalism or better service. Would highly recommend Gus."

"We bought a house in January. The house has a finished basement and looked like it only needed repainting. After a considerable amount of drywall repair, we painted. After 4 days, the paint did not dry and we could wipe it off the walls with our fingers. My wife used a digital thermometer to get readings of 37 degrees at the wall and 35 at the floor. We called Assured Energy Solutions and within a couple of days we discovered there was little to no insulation in most areas of the house. The thermal imaging and vacuum test indicated our nearly 6,000 sq. ft. house was practically an open door. Cal and Tony explained what was wrong and how they would make it right. From day one the guys showed up on time and worked feverishly to complete the day's tasks. Through every step of the way, the progress was explained. If we had questions, the workers would stop immediately and with a smile, explain what was wrong and show us the corrective action that was being taken. Sometimes the workers would call to us to show us what they had done. At the end of each day, we got a tour and a thorough explanation of the work completed and what would be next. Each day the furnace ran less and less. We also noticed the house is much quieter and feels warm and cozy. The work was completed on time. We thought the price was very reasonable. The workers were all very friendly, courteous and respectful. We are very happy customers and highly recommend this company."

"I believe the price was too high for the quality of work. The dry wall that was put up was not a smooth finish. They did not cover up my possessions as they said they would. They did not clean up very well. I found at least 8 nails on the ground & some insulation was left in the garage. Had I not swept the floor I probably would have Gotten a flat tire. They used my ladder & my broom without asking."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.

Yes, a fan can help drywall mud dry faster by improving air circulation and reducing humidity in the room. Drywall mud dries through evaporation, so increasing airflow speeds up this process. However, you should position the fan to blow across the room rather than directly on the wet mud. This helps prevent drying too quickly, which can cause cracking. You should also use a dehumidifier if high humidity is an issue.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

According to the EPA, mold grows within 24 to 48 hours if left untreated after a water leak. So unless you notice the leak and stop it right away, you only have a day or so before mold is a real concern. If you don’t notice the leak, it can take about three weeks for the mold spores to become visible. That means you’ve likely had an active mold infection for a few weeks by the time you notice discoloration.
