Tony and his brother are professional, they work quickly and the quality of their work is excellent. I highly recommend Nino's Tile.
We worked out a schedule that allowed me to remove the old toilet and vanity so that they could tile the floor. Once they were done with the floor, we had to wait for our plumber to come out and redo the shower so Tony worked another job without complaint. Once the plumber roughed in the new shower fixtures, Tony and Vito returned and worked tirelessly to update the bathroom shower. They worked long hours and created a masterpiece which we will enjoy for a long time to come. At first when I learned that Nino was retired, I was a little concerned that the sons wouldn't perform to the standard I had come to expect from the father. He can be very proud that his sons have embraced the old world culture and are also true craftsmen. My wife and I are really fans of this family of fine artists.
The scope of work increased as a result of the plumbing that we had done but they stuck to the original estimate plus a very small increase for all the extra work. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and highly recommend the Nino's Tile and Marble for their professionalism, knowledge and great work ethic.
Our job included large slate tiles, small glass tiles and quartz slabs. 100% of the floor and walls are covered with stone and tile. Even a portion of the ceiling has tile. Every curve and corner was painstakingly executed and took extra time to get things right. The bathroom is a showplace. We are incredibly happy with their work. Excellent!
WE are very happy with the results.
I initially left a voice message for Nino's Tile & Marble the morning of September 16. Tony returned my phone call that same afternoon and scheduled a September 18 visit to view the bathroom and provide me with an estimate for the work. Tony and his co-worker/ brother arrived on time for the estimate. They were very courteous, and we discussed the extent of work to be done. The very next day Tony emailed me an estimate for the work. I was quite pleased with how quickly they had responded, and I also prefer to work with family-owned businesses like this one. So, after considering some other contractors, I selected Nino's Tile & Marble. I sent Tony an email on September 20 stating that I wanted him to perform the work on my bathroom. I also provided him with a list of dates that would work well for me.
I heard nothing from Tony (no phone call, no email) until October 2 when he contacted me via email to ask whether October 4 still worked for performing the work. I had called him two times during the nearly two-week interim (leaving voice messages) to try to determine whether he planned to schedule the job, but I received no response. I understand that contractors (especially small businesses) get busy, but my preference is some acknowledgement that the job will get scheduled or that my email or calls have been received. This is the reason for the D grade for responsiveness. (After the job was completed, I verbally suggested to Tony that a quick email or voice message would have gone a long way to improving customer relations.)
The work was performed on October 4 between approximately 9:30 am and 3:30 pm. Tony and co-worker (brother) performed the work and took about a 45-minute lunch break. The time frame seemed reasonable overall considering what had to be done to replace the tiles which were located throughout the shower stall (not contiguous). I stayed home for the entire job with the exception of about 20 minutes. I had no concerns about leaving them at my home.
Throughout the job, Tony and his brother were quite courteous when speaking directly to me. However, while they worked they seemed oblivious to anyone else in the condo. They spoke very loudly, his brother swore quite frequently and loudly, and they got into a number of spats that seemed rather juvenile. Even my 3-year-old thought they were loud. The language was not unbearable, or I would have asked them to keep it down. (I don't like to interfere once a job has started unless necessary.) I don't think their on-the-job behavior warranted a D grade, but for Professionalism I rate them no higher than C.
The Quality of the work was mostly very good/ excellent, but they didn't bother to reseal the hole between the water pipe and tile before replacing the escutcheon for hot/cold handles. Also, there is a hairline crack between two tiles they replaced at the shower corner. There were also grout touch-up areas where the old grout should have been removed before applying new. These are the details that kept them out of the A-grade for Quality.
In addition, we were working on a tight timeline (because we only had ony bathroom and were showering at family's houses); Nino found a piece of granite, and once the color was approved by my wife, Nino cut and installed the granite sill top for us. It looks great and honestly so much better than we were expecting and way better than we could have done ourselves. I recommend Nino and only wish we had more bathroom projects so we could work with Nino again.
