"I would highly recommend HPO Painting. They repaired drywall and did interior painting for us this year. Also painted our staircase and entry doors. In the past I have used them for exterior painting including fence repair and painting. They have great attention to detail, are courteous, complete the work in a timely manner, and are competitive with their pricing. A great company to work with!"

"Bici Brothers did an amazing job. They painted the interior of my entire house(3500 sq ft). Job was completed on time and on budget. Very professional, even did work without instruction to make the project really stand out. I will use them again for my next project."

"We contracted H&MH to paint, finish some drywall, and put flooring down in our basement on a tight budget. The unfinished ceiling was painted too, which was not an easy task. All the work turned out great and way better than expected. Andy suggested flooring that was a perfect choice. We really love how it turned out. All of the crew were polite, professional, and hard working. Everything was done on time and under budget. We’ve hired this company for several projects and we’ve never been disappointed. We highly recommend them!"

"Our work was all inside. The painters completed all work in an efficient and timely manner. They were friendly and thoroughly professional. One area needed additional coverage and it was done without any delay, and at no additional cost. My wife and I are pleased with the way the job was done. "We are extremely pleased with the results of this multi-week interior painting project. Radek worked quickly, carefully, gave us sound advice on types of paint to use, and helped us move and put back furniture. He also replaced the fixtures and bulbs for 30+ recessed ceiling lights which was not part of the initial contract. Definitely recommend Radek and will use again for future painting projects."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

The best and fastest way to remove paint from a deck often involves combining a chemical stripper with a pressure washer. Gel-based paint strippers are highly recommended because their thick consistency makes them less messy and easier to apply than liquid strippers. After applying the stripper to loosen the paint, you can use a pressure washer to efficiently wash away the residue. When using a pressure washer for this task, it's important to use a low pressure (under 1000 PSI) to avoid forcing too much moisture into the wood, which could lead to mildew or rot.

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

The biggest issue with painting your interior walls with exterior paint isn’t the way the paint looks or performs—it’s the lack of ventilation. The higher quantities of VOCs in exterior paint will have a harder time dispersing in an enclosed space, so do everything you can to direct them out—like turning on a fan and opening your windows and doors. Afterward, you can simply prime and redo your walls with interior paint, and no one will know the difference.

The best way to remove lead paint is by wet hand sanding and removing all dust and residue with a HEPA vacuum. Professionals may also strip and scrape lead-based paint with a paint scraper. In some cases, you may choose to have a pro encapsulate or enclose your lead-based paint surface by covering it with a sealant or a new material. You may also choose to replace the material altogether.

You can sand paint off a wall. However, it's difficult and time-consuming. Depending on why you wish to remove the paint, there are simpler ways to achieve similar results. Scraping off any loose paint and applying a skim coat is the most common way to hide a damaged wall or paint job.
