"Dakota is a man of his word and consistently shows up when others won’t. He genuinely cares about his work and always follows through on the task he’s hired to do. You can rely on him no matter the size of the job—nothing is too big or too small. I would highly recommend Dakota to anyone. Hands down, he’s the best."

"They came into the middle of a botched job and developed a thorough plan to redo everything correctly. The work ethic of this company is something very rare and will result in a quality result that we will be proud to have accomplished in our home. they are a hidden gem of a company and worthy of serious consideration for any tile job. "Footprints Flooring is an excellent company. Brian was very assessable - quick to get back to us. He checked and double-checked that our job would produce the results we wanted. We not only had hardwood floors installed but also refinished our existing flooring. The team was amazing which included Rustic Wood Floor Supply who made a special trip to make sure the right floors were ordered, to the very hard working team of men who did the install. Brain stayed in contact with us throughout the install and came to do the finishing work even making trips to get the right shade of chalking. I will and have recommended this company to others. Thank you Footprints, we LOVE our floors!"

"Alex was right on time every time that we made an arrangement. He kept in touch by text very efficiently. He did the job very well and stayed at my house until the job was finished, about 6pm at night. He gave me a set price and did not charge by the hour. He cleaned up well after painting."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Regardless of the material, basic square tiles will never go out of style. Neutral colors like white, grey, beige, and black will always be in demand in residential and commercial settings. Certain designs, like herringbone and hexagonal patterns, are considered timeless. Porcelain and porcelain-like tiles will also never go out of style.

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture. Unglazed ceramic tiles need to be sealed to keep the porous tile safe from moisture and staining. However, both types of tile can benefit from sealing. Sealant can make the tiles easier to keep clean and offer more resistance to water, spills, and stains.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

Silicone caulk shouldn’t be used in place of grout because each material serves its own purpose. Thanks to its flexibility, silicone caulk is good for sealing around the perimeter of tiled floors, where movement and expansion might occur. However, grout is more durable, making it a better option for the joints in between tiles, which need to withstand constant weight and foot traffic.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.
