"The owner was a hard worker and diligent when s here. He over booked himself. So he leave the job unfinished, and go to the next job . He did not returned to complete the job. Its been August, September, October 2025. The work started at the end of July. He asked for payment before He completed the job. His experienced as a carpenter was not good enough. I would not recommend that company."

While paving a driveway is possible to do as a DIY project, we don’t recommend it. The most obvious disadvantage of permeable paving is that the cost is typically higher compared to non-permeable concrete, pavers, or asphalt methods. Also, the porous material can get clogged with dirt and debris, requiring cleaning and power washing more frequently than standard paving materials and methods. Although permeable paving is not ideal for highways, airports, and other surfaces supporting heavy traffic and machinery, it is suitable for regular residential driveways.

There’s no single best asphalt grade—it all comes down to where and how it’s used. Highways and heavy-traffic roads need something tough, like polymer-modified asphalt (PMA) or Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA). Local roads and parking lots rely on the Performance Graded (PG) system, chosen based on climate. A PG 64-28 mix, for example, handles a broad temperature range while simpler, more cost-effective mixes are typically enough for residential driveways. The best grade of asphalt depends on traffic, weather, and your budget, which is why a professional’s input is always a smart move before making a decision.

In most cases, driveway repair is worth the investment. Your driveway is one of the first things people see when they look at your home, so repairing cracks, chips, and potholes can improve your home’s curb appeal and overall value. Repairing your driveway is also almost always more affordable than replacing it entirely—an average of $1,765 compared to the cost of replacing a driveway, which typically costs around $5,000.

The best steep driveway material is permeable pavers filled with gravel or crushed stones. Plastic, rubber, and concrete pavers all work to allow water to run down your driveway without washing away and eroding your driveway. These paver materials also do well with ice and snow, unlike brick or concrete pavers. You can also install a driveway retaining wall to help prevent pavers and gravel from shifting over time.
