"Jim tracked the issue to a bad thermistor, something the previous plumber had tested and said was fine.  Jim was able to get the system working, so my daughter and I would have hot water over the weekend.  When the pilot light went out again a few minutes after Jim left, he turned around (this was after 6 pm at this point), got it restarted and stayed until he was sure the water heater would continue to work.

Jim returned several weeks later to install a new water heater, at a much lower price than the previous company had quoted.  The work was done quickly, and professionally.  Jim even took the time to repair a plumbing issue that had existed since the home was built.

I have since bought the home from my landlord, and will use JRS Plumbing for any issues I have in the future.  Jim is friendly, courteous, and above all else, honest.  I would not hesitate to recommend his work to any of my family and friends."

"I needed an outdoor faucet replaced as I had to use a socket screwdriver to turn the water on/off. He came out, knew exactly what was needed and got right to work. It seemed like in no time he was back at my door letting me know it was done. Great job, works so much better!"

"I can not recommend this company enough. Not only were they priced right they were very professional. I received multiple quotes from multiple companies. Never again. My forever call with plumbing needs will be to Luke and his team. They did an amazing job and provided an amazing product. I thought calling the big box store to get a new water heater would be the way to go but they gave me the run around trying to upcharge left and right. Luke gave me an honest quote and stuck to it. I received a better product with a much better experience. Thanks Luke! I appreciate you and your team!"

"We had the pleasure of working with Elevated Plumbing after American Home Shield assigned them to handle a plumbing issue in our home. From start to finish, they provided exceptional service that exceeded our expectations. After submitting the work request through AHS, I quickly received a friendly call from Elevated Plumbing’s office staff, followed by a text and email confirming the service details. Their communication was stellar, and they kept us informed at every step. When Dustin arrived, it was immediately clear we were in capable hands. Dustin’s professionalism, expertise, and patience stood out as he diagnosed and repaired the issue. The repair process involved removing drywall, sourcing parts, replacing a damaged section of pipe, and thoroughly testing the system to ensure the leak was fixed. Dustin also took the time to answer all my questions and explain why the leak occurred, which I greatly appreciated."

"Tech was able to tell me what the error code meant but did not want me to order part until testing with volt meter. Diag appointment with volt meter did not cost extra. Tech gave me part numbers and it fixed the problem."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

If you have an older electrical system with fraying wires and other signs of damage, removal  may be the best course of action. When asbestos begins to break down, it's more likely to become airborne, increasing the risk of health issues when it's inhaled.

However, if the system is in good condition and doesn't have visible signs of wear or damage, leaving it alone may be the safest course of action. An asbestos abatement and removal professional can help you determine the best way to proceed.

Most manufacturers stopped putting asbestos in linoleum before 1980 due to public concerns about its toxicity. However, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) didn’t ban asbestos-containing products until 1989, and a comprehensive ban was not announced until 2024. This means that homes built after 1989 may still have asbestos in their flooring.

Asbestos can be found in many building materials, especially if the materials were installed more than 20 years ago. Asbestos-containing materials (ACM) can include:

  • Acoustic ceiling tiles

  • Furnace insulation

  • Home appliances

  • Fire-retardant clothing

  • Cement pipe

  • Pipe insulation

  • Wall and ceiling insulation

  • Vehicle brake pads

  • Vinyl flooring

  • Sprayed acoustic ceilings

  • Stove insulation

  • Patching compounds

  • Textured paints

  • Roofing shingles

  • Siding

Bathroom tiles can contain asbestos, just the same as patio tiles or kitchen tiles. Remember that asbestos was used primarily for its insulative and fire-resistant properties, both of which are desired in a house. Before we knew asbestos caused cancers and other diseases, it made a lot of sense to include it in many different building materials, including bathroom tiles.

There are products that still contain asbestos, but they were typically installed decades ago. Common places where you may still find asbestos-containing materials are in siding, wrapped around ductwork, in older appliances (i.e., stove and gravity furnaces), and in floors. Asbestos was primarily used as an insulator, so anywhere in an older home where you lose heat is where you will most likely find asbestos.
