"I wish I hadn't picked Interlock and cannot recommend to others. Further research shows issues with leaking ridge vents. It started when I entered my attic after the installation to find glaring gaps under a poorly installed ridge cap/vent. Repaired, but I can still see daylight (where bugs and rain can enter) between my vent and the aluminum shingles. I asked installer to follow the Quarrix Ridge Vent installation instructions for sealing and fastener spacing and received a waiver of the lifetime warranty (if they followed the specs). Imagine that!? What's more, I found my kitchen had been venting into my attic for a year until I noticed they roofed over that vent. It's now fixed, but how many customers look for these things? (Shouldn't have to). Finally, solar panels are now skewed since my aluminum shingle rows "disappear" (not straight). It only takes the snap of a chalk line to ensure rows are straight and equally spaced. Lots of excuses for a "premium roof". Unhappy"

You shouldn’t put a new roof underlayment over an old one for a few reasons. Old felt must be removed in order to assess the condition of your roof decking, such as rotting wood or other structural issues. Also, if your roofer doesn't install a fresh layer of felt as is required by shingle manufacturers, your warranty may be voided. Finally, old underlayment removal is often included in the cost of roof repair or replacement, so there's no real benefit to leaving it on before installing a new layer.

Furring strips reduce heat transfer to your home. Unlike materials like wood roof shakes, metal panels have a high heat conductivity and will readily pass heat to the materials underneath. If that material is your roof deck, you’ll notice hotter temperatures in your living space, especially during the summer. Furring strips add a layer of air insulation to reduce that heat transfer.
