"The project included installing Hardy board, replacing rotting trim, doors, gutters/downspouts, and repainting the exterior. The management and crews did a wonderful job - we could not expect anything more and will highly recommend them."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Arbor Floors is a family operated business, which I prefer. You don't deal with someone who hires someone else to do the job. Victor and his team did a great job refinishing our hardwoods and installing baseboards. They were very professional and respectful. Arbor Floors is my go to flooring contractor."

"Overall, this is hardly the worst contractor I have worked with, but this wasn't a great experience. I was somewhat let down on both the work and professionalism. I had the work done for my condo and there are bubble marks, lines and scuff marks in numerous places. The epoxy scratches terribly easy. I take full responsibility for some scratches, but others leave me scratching my head (no pun intended!). As I add more renovations (shutters, painting, area rugs) it's much less of an eye sore, but I will probably put hardwood over it next year. Simply put, it's not the highlight of the condo I was hoping it would be. I had a friend over who said the floor imperfections would "drive her crazy". Fortunately I am not that much of a perfectionist so can certainly live with it! First world problem I say :) Because I don't have any personal experience with these types of floors for a general living area, I can only really rate it on the end result (the choice of doing an epoxy vs. hardwood floor). Maybe this is all normal, which made me hesitant to leave a somewhat negative review, but that is just where I am at based on expectations provided and secondhand opinions. I am sure other jobs that they do are very good and other reviews are warranted, but depending on who you are and your financial means, just do your homework if you are doing this inside your home. I am pretty laid back and make a decent buck so this isn't a big deal for me, just a lesson learned."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

If you’re using a carpet runner instead of a traditional carpet, pay attention to your width measurements. Instead of measuring the total width of your staircase with 2 added inches for foldover, simply measure the width you’d like the runner to cover. Runners generally come in standard sizes, so you may need to approximate what would look best in your space.

The toilet flange anchors to the subfloor, usually with wood screws or cement screws, but most of it should sit above floor level at full height. When a flange is flush with the subfloor or below it, it can lead to the creation of leak paths.

Yes, your kitchen flooring should extend under your dishwasher. It is essential for creating a level and stable surface for the appliance and preventing moisture from seeping into the subflooring, which is costly to repair. Working with a kitchen contractor will ensure the new flooring accounts for the height of the dishwasher so it sits under the countertop properly without any glaring gaps.

Houses naturally settle over time, but they should settle uniformly with no apparent settling in one spot. If your floor is uneven but only in a particular area of your home, differential settlement could be the problem. This can be caused by improper drainage, erosion, expanding soil, earthquake activity, or poor construction techniques.

Few home upgrades add resale value above their installation cost, including terrazzo floors. However, they are still a good option if you like the look. While terrazzo may be expensive, it has a solid return on investment of around 55% to 70%. The durability and low maintenance requirements of terrazzo can be appealing selling points, as many buyers will appreciate flooring that can last 40 to 100 years.
