Crew arrived late (but office had emailed to notify about the delay). First worker arrived and drained old water heater (about 1/2 hour). Second worker arrived -- then they did removal and install (2 workers -- less than 1 hour). Went pretty smoothly; plumbing was functional -- but not straight and nice looking. Almost no communication to homeowner about setting the new water heater (i.e., what temperature do you want? do you have any questions? ...). So I asked him just before he left, what temperature did you set the water at -- the reply was "I just put it on B, I always put it on B". I followed up with -- "That seems pretty hot -- maybe 140 F -- shouldn't we set it on 120". His response, you can set that yourself if you want a different temperature." It did not seem reasonable that he was going to leave with the temperature set at a non-standard and potentially dangerous level and not communicate with us. I opened up the attic and there were several large spills of pipe sealant on the floor and they had left their pipe cutter. I returned the pipe cutter before they pulled away and noticed that they had left their channel locks in the grass. I returned those. Then, after they left, I noticed that they had left the covers and electronics from 4 water meters (ours and three neighbors) open and laying out in the yard -- and had left their meter key. I closed up the meters and called so they could come back and get the key. Based on Angies list ratings, I expected more -- instead, I got what I might have expected from a generic big box installation, not an A level preferred provider. Labor cost was about average for plumbers that I checked with for the job ($530), but they were in a hurry and took less than 2.5 person hours (about $210 per hour) -- it seems like they could have spent another 15 minutes and picked up their tools and provided some information to the homeowner and set the system according to standard-safe recommendations. We are extremely happy with the service we received from Myatt Air Conditioning. After having a new heating & air system installed with Myatt, we will only use them. They showed up early in the morning, changed out our entire heating & air system and by 2pm the unit was running and cooling...

Contractor quoted a price of $7400 for a new heat pump installed with new air handler. I check and found that the equipment only costs $1650 if I ordered online. I found another contractor to do the job for $3350. It took the other contract 4 hours with 3 men to do the install. I can't...

I can't say enough good about Quality Heating and Air. They did a very professional job and best of all their price was less than have what their competitor wanted for the EXACT same equipment installed. I highly recommend this company.

The pump wouldn't work so they went up in the attic. He kept trying to block me from what he was doing and just kept saying it didn't look good. He cut all the wires for the circuit board and said the heat exchanger is fried. He wanted me to order it right there so I did because I felt he was...

FAQs for heating oil service projects in Thomson, GA
To buy heating oil for your house, contact local heating oil companies to compare prices and place an order once you decide on a supplier. The company will have to deliver your heating oil in a truck designed to carry and dispense heating oil safely. Call and order your heating oil early enough to have your oil delivered before you need to start using it for home heating.
On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.
You save money on heating oil in a few ways:
Make sure your home is well insulated and sealed against drafts and heat leakage.
Use a thermostat that’s working properly and calibrated accurately.
Program your thermostat to lower the heat when you’re not home.
Order heating oil during the off-season when prices are likely to be lower.
Summer months tend to be when heating oil prices are lowest because of decreased demand. Buying heating oil during the off-season also prepares you for when the weather gets cold, and you need to start using the oil to heat your home. Although heating oil prices will fluctuate, it’s best to avoid purchasing between September and April, as that's the peak season for heating oil demand.
Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.
