"I used Make a Choice Exteriors recently. They exceeded my expectations. I had them repair wood around my windows and replace all of the Louisanna Pacific Siding with Hardi plank on my entire home. And they painted my whole house.Their team is friendly and clean up was wonderful. I highly recommend them"

"I contacted West Shore Homes about my bathtub / shower and they sent someone out to talk to us- my daughter was there with me - and she (Juliana Leigh) was very helpful and informative and so decided on having the tub taken out and putting in their shower unit. Note: the last couple of years I had been having faucet problems with the tub and after the last few years of some health issues it was more difficult to step into/out of the tub. So liked the shower unit idea. Juliana answered all our questions and helped us with starting our procedure to make this happen. 2 weeks later Ron, Earl and Ira came in and completed the remodel in one day. They started at 8 am and walked us through the project. They explained step by step what they were doing. They were more than willing to answer any of our questions and completed the project by 6 pm. They did an excellent job and I am more than happy to have a new shower. I would recommend these 3 guys because they treated my home as if it was their home and like family. I would recommend WestShore and their services to anyone because they were all wonderful."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Drafts, condensation between panes, difficulty operating, or visible frames or glass damage are signs of needed repairs.

The cost ultimately depends on size, but roughly, the most popular screen materials will set you back anywhere from around $0.25 to over $25 per square foot. Fiberglass and aluminum are usually less expensive at around $0.25 to $0.70 per square foot. Solar screens cost about $7.50 to $15 per square foot, while security screens range from around $10 to $25 per square foot.

If you’re not an experienced DIYer, consider hiring a local patio repair contractor to rescreen your porch or sunroom. Unless you’re only repairing a small rip or hole, this project is not an easy job. A professional can also make recommendations for materials that will work best for your porch.

Pet-resistant, vinyl-coated polyester is one of the strongest window screen materials available, with some manufacturers touting a 7x increase in strength compared to standard fiberglass screens. Stainless steel security screens are also extremely strong, but they’re not suitable for coastal areas due to the risk of corrosion from salty sea air. If sea air isn’t a concern, stainless steel is extremely tough.

Some local utilities or state programs offer rebates or tax incentives for energy-efficient upgrades, including solar screens. Make sure to check with your local energy provider or government agency to see if you qualify for any cost-saving programs. Federal tax credits may also be available for qualifying window and exterior home upgrades.
