"This was my second quote and this company is amazing. Quickly identified the issue, changed the motor, provided a filter and made sure everything was working on one trip within a few hours. The previous company (Air Pros, LLC) said it was unfixable and tried to sell me a new unit over $6k which was a huge scam. Don't go to those guys, work with this family owned honest business. Keep in mind HVAC repairs in many cases are not cheap, I own 3 houses and have paid several hundred or more when an HVAC is old and need repairs."

"We’ve been using Ace and A for over 15 years and have been very pleased with the service we’ve received. The technicians are very friendly, efficient, and honest and up front about repairs. I recommend Ace and A to anyone I know needing service of their home’s HVAC! system."

"He was on time first of all, no 4 hour window crap he said "I'll be there at 10.00" and he was there at that time. While he was repairing the furnace I asked him several questions about the unit which he answered in a polite, professional and friendly manner. He made several suggstions on what types of units gave the best and most reliable service and what he would charge to install them. My father is a HVAC tech so we called and asked for his estimate on the part and service and the price we got was for parts and service was 30% BELOW his estimate. This was an all around excellent experience, It's Aire Central all the way from now on !!"

"My husband and I have used Moncrief for nearly 30 years -- ever since we bought this house.  The prior owner used Moncrief and recommended them.   Over the years we have had this company perform all service/maintenance work on our HVAC system.  They are not cheap, but they do good work and are very trustworthy.

"I?ve known Drue Lawrence and his family for years. He is one of the kindest, caring, and responsible guys I know. He treats people with the upmost respect and pays attention to the details. I?ve seen him first hand as a guy who shows up every time and is a hard worker with a heart of gold. I am so excited for him to be in our region as an excellent general manager for Varsity Zone HVAC but even more excited to have him back in ATL as a friend. I would highly recommend him and the team to anyone, he does a great job every single time."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Signs that your A/C system needs professional service include increased energy bills, uneven or poor cooling, loud or unusual noises, and frequent cycling.

Modern AC leak sealants work as a temporary measure to stop refrigerant leaks. You can purchase them at most home improvement stores or on online. When using an AC leak sealant, keep in mind that it’s only a temporary solution, so you’ll still need to hire a pro to install a replacement part as soon as possible.

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.

While personal preferences widely vary, sleep experts say the best temperature for sleeping is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit rather than 78. If you do choose to sleep with your AC unit tuned to 78 degrees, you might want to use only a sheet or light blanket rather than a comforter. You might also consider installing a window unit in your bedroom so that you can be cooler in bed without wasting energy cooling the whole house.

Signs that your air conditioner capacitor is bad or failing include a range of symptoms. The AC unit may not turn on at all, or it might struggle to start before shutting down randomly or in the middle of a cooling cycle. You might hear a humming or banging noise when it attempts to start, or the compressor might hum without the unit actually running. Other indicators include a smell or smoke coming from the unit, the blower circulating room-temperature air instead of cold air, and an unexpected increase in your energy bills.
