"Very well. I was skeptical at first but Mr Miller put me at ease by sending his information and was very transparent. He said he would be at the location at a specific time, and was. Mr. Miller did a great job staining and keeping me informed of his progress through sending pictures and calling me. I would highly recommend him to anyone and will be using him again for my future projects."

2 years of experience

I have a wide array of knowledge and experience in various areas of construction, remodeling, and general home care. This includes finish work (drywall, paint, etc.), carpentry (framing, decking, and cabinetry), plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and general maintenance. What I don't know how to do I will commit to learning! What makes me stand out is that I know and understand the generational value of a home. I don't mean just a *house* and its monetary value. I mean a *home*, the place you'll spend much of life with your loved ones, including those may inherit the home. It is a place that requires love and stewardship. I know this by experience, and I'll guarantee my best work to make your home last for generations. My background: -5 years in landscaping maintenance (including 4 years at Covenant College while studying for my undergraduate degree) -2 years in construction: my time for the past two years has been split between project management (of both full-scale home remodels and new home builds) and handyman/maintenance jobs for rental properties of a company owner. Along with this, I've gotten experience working on an older home my wife and I bought and are currently living in. -I've also done some handyman work on the side for friends and acquaintances, but am now looking to turn this into a business of my own, not just a gig.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, professional installations include reinforced corner posts to ensure durability.

Call a foundation repair pro to replace a rotted support beam. Your contractor will likely install temporary support to the area while replacing the beam with new wood or steel. Load-bearing elements of your home—such as the horizontal beams that run along your floors, walls, roof, and ceilings—should be inspected by a trained structural engineer. Call these experts the moment you detect rot, water damage, or foundation issues in your home.

Living in a termite-infested home isn’t just annoying—it’s risky. These pests can quietly chew through wood, weakening your walls, floors, and even the structure of your house. On top of the safety concerns, there’s the financial stress of repairs, not to mention potential health issues from mold or allergens stirred up by termite activity.

Modern brick houses are really stick-built homes with a brick facade for aesthetic purposes only, so most have framing. With genuine brick construction, most homeowners install furring strips over the interior of the brick and then install drywall over those strips to cover the brick wall, so they don’t have traditional framing.

Any bowing in a basement wall signals an issue that needs to be addressed. However, bowing of 2 to 4 inches is more straightforward to fix than bowing of more than 4 inches. That’s why it’s essential to call a pro as soon as you notice the bowing wall. The sooner you address the problem, the easier (and less expensive) it will be to repair.
