"Thank you, we appreciate you letting us work for you."
Would not answer phone or return messages. Left a mess in living room 1 wall. Finally came back to finish when I told them there weren't getting their tools back. I put off posting this review. .but I went ahead and finished it today.
From there it went downhill. The job in the bathroom (done by Chad) was the WORST! I wish I could upload photos here to show you. In general I can say that no prep work was done whatsoever. He just painted over whatever was already there even though we had discussed the need to sand and smooth out peeling paint lines, marks where old hardware had been removed and fill holes. None of this was done. I found some dust (like regular household dust, not dust from having sanded) on the chair rail under my medicine cabinet which showed that he just skipped that section, figuring it wouldn't show. He didn't tape off the wall so trim paint went up onto my wall. That was the rule rather than the exception (in fact there's only 5" space in all the chair rail where trim paint DIDN'T get on the wall!). I found red hairs (mine) on the linen closet door which indicated that he 1) had not wiped the door down or even sanded before painting and 2) didn't put a full coat of paint on the door or they would have at least been covered by the paint and instead were still the color of my hair. In general, Chad is a very lazy painter. I could have done a better job. During their lunch break, I pointed out some of these things to him and he said he'd fix them but he didn't.
I had to take my cats to the vet and, though the painters said they would be there when I returned, they were gone when I came home. I was unimpressed with the job I found and was even more discouraged by the company's response to my complaints. The guy who answered the phone (Nick I think) could have cared less when I told him there was a problem. He gave no apology and just said "Oh ok, I"ll pass on the message." Do they get so many complaints that mine just didn't cause a stir?
Frank, the overseer, had said he would come that afternoon but he didn't show up, nor did he call. After 2 days, I called again and said that if no one came to review the job or set up a time to correct it, that I would assume they were walking away from it and I should hire someone else. Only then did they come to the house.
When Frank came the next morning, he saw the job and agreed that it needed to be redone. He never apologized for the bad job. He blamed the existing condition of the badly installed corner bead in the bedroom for paint that had cracked in there. When I pointed out that his guys were supposed to fix the problem before simply painting over it, he started telling me how much work would be involved in that and reminded me what an inexpensive price he had given me! Since we discussed the corner bead problem at the time he was bidding, I didn't see how the price he gave me was relevant since he presumably included that work in his estimate. From there, I started hearing lots of excuses and for some reason he started telling me what a big company they were and what a small job this was. Finally he and Randy Wilson decided to just walk away from the job. To their credit, they didn?t charge anything but I would have much rather just paid someone to do it right the first time. Now I?ll have to hire someone else to come again and re-do the job properly. I was surprised at how little they cared.
