"Very satisfied! Highly recommended!!! Perfectly! Mr. Rackley and his team knocked the roof out in less than a day! Clean up was spotless and no worries for nails with the powerful magnets they sweep the ground with after clean up. I am very happy I chose Rackley Roofing and am recommending them to my dad for his roof. You won't be disappointed!"

"We are very pleased with their work. Our house looks like a new house. We are so proud of it. In our estimation it is the prettiest house in our culdesac and surrounding subdivisions. I just go out in the yard and admire it many times. Their salesman Davin was wonderful as well as everyone from there that we dealt with. Martha Wallace"

"I was building a backyard bungalow but was hesitant to do the roof (I'm almost 70). Georgia Home Roofing finished the exterior framing, erected the roof structure, sheathed it with OSB, put down the underlayment, shingled it with a drip edge and apron. All this when a hurricane was bearing down on us! I couldn\t be more please with the quality and cost of the work!!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The roof overhang, also known as the eaves, does count as part of the roof’s square footage because it must be covered with the roofing material. The overhang is one of the reasons why you can’t base your roof's square footage on the square footage of the house. The roof square footage must also account for the pitch of the roof as well as the eaves.

Yes, chimney flashing is an important element in the complex system that is your roof. Chimneys (and anything else that goes through your roof) provide a great opportunity for water damage. Good flashing prevents a lot of potential damage.

Thatched roofs last for between 30 and 50 years in most cases, which is longer than most asphalt roofs. However, getting that life span from your thatched roof requires more maintenance than you’d need for most other materials, including fireproofing, brushing, cleaning, and rethatching as the material gets worn down. You’ll also need routine inspections to ensure you’re not at risk of leaks.

A roof pitch multiplier is an accurate way to calculate roof square footage, and it’s handy for purchasing the correct amount of materials. To determine your roof pitch multiplier, you'll need to calculate the roof slope, square it, and add it to 144. Next, find the square root of the total and divide it by 12. The answer is your roof pitch multiplier. Once you know the roof pitch multiplier, multiply it by the total square feet of your building to determine the total roof surface area.

Verify that your roof is licensed and insured by visiting your state's contractor's licensing association. Most states have a database to double-check your contractor's name and address against the information provided. The contractor should also display both their license and insurance on their website with links to the related agencies.
