It now provides a bigger flame and will no longer deposit any residue on the chimney walls. He also checked the gas line for leaks. Fortunately, there were none. "I had requested a quote for new gutters, about 110'.  Once he got on the roof and did an inspection, he pointed out additional items needing addressing.  The chimney flashing needed repairs, also he suggested new boots to all the vents, and all gutter seams needed new caulking.  Not knowing that much about roofing, I went along with his suggestions.  I really don't know if these additonal items needed addressing or not, but knowing that a good roof is key to a house's condition, I feel good about it.  I interviewed one other company, they did not get on the roof to do any other roof inspections.
