"The best piano movers in Atlanta. I’ve moved several times and tried several different moving and tuning companies. Pascal and his team were by far the best. They were extremely professional and were able to get the piano out of my old house with expert care. Upon getting to my new house they dealt with the more challenging entry stairs with the knowledge and experience he want as someone transports your 1000 pound baby. Once installed I quickly learned that Pascal is one of the most experienced piano tuners in Atlanta. He took extra time and my piano has never sounded so good. A 440 provides top quality service with reasonable pricing. They are clearly the best piano movers i’ve ever used."

"Piano had been moved and sitting for a few years. Needed some minor repairs and full tuning. Nicky was on time, completed the service in a friendly and professional manner. All was done exactly as agreed upon. Piano sounds much better. Will call on Nicky for my next tuning."

"The company moved my apartment. Everything was a smooth process. Mike was very nice and extremely helpful with all my questions. I can't remember the other guys name right now that arrived on moving day but he was amazing. I wasn't completely done packing when arrived. But by the time he had everything else loaded I was putting tape on the last box. This was so easier than trying to get friends to help on moving day. I would definitely use them again."

"I’m so glad I hired this company for my move! The guys were on time & they worked so hard. Unfortunately it started to rain the day we moved but that didn’t stop them. They took extra precautions to make sure all my items were wrapped up and that there was no damage. I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks again guys!"

"My request was late (day before) and I’m very satisfied with service received. Scheduling with Troy was hassle free with good communication. The moving team Z and Terrence along with Ken to supervise arrived about 20 minutes early with courtesy call ahead asking if that was ok. The team was professional, polite and communicated throughout to make sure the job was getting done to my satisfaction. They worked really hard (especially moving items to third floor apartment with no elevator), efficient and took due care with my items. I highly recommend and would hire for future move."

"Several of our pieces were very heavy and delicate. Jonathan and his crew handled everything with ease. Each request was fulfilled completely and respectfully. The move took 7 hours total on a steamy GA summer day. They didn't complain once, they just kept right on working. I would hire Kingdom Movers again in a heartbeat. Great job, Jonathan!!!"

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

You should consider hiring professional movers for moves that seem too daunting, dangerous, or involve large, heavy objects. The larger your home and the longer the distance, the more likely you are to need professional help. A moving service can take the hardest tasks off your plate and reduce the risk of personal injury. However, if you are only moving a few light items, you can save money by moving on your own and renting a truck. Keep in mind that a DIY move requires significant planning and time. A hybrid option is also available, where you hire movers just to lift and transport heavy items to your vehicle.

No, not tipping movers isn’t considered rude. Tipping is optional, not expected. There are plenty of alternative ways to show your appreciation without tipping.

Before hiring a moving company to help you with your move, there are a few things you will want to ask, including:

  • Is there anything your company won’t move?

  • Does workers’ compensation cover the crew?

  • Will you disassemble and reassemble the furniture?

  • Are there packing restrictions?

  • Can you guarantee my delivery date?

  • Can you provide references?

  • What do you charge extra for?

  • What is your cancellation policy?

The average cost to hire professional movers is approximately $1,700, but the total price can range from as low as $920 to over $12,000 depending on the move's complexity. For local moves, typically under 100 miles, costs generally fall between $920 and $2,530. Long-distance moves are more expensive, with prices ranging from $2,700 to $10,000 or more.

Several key factors influence the final cost:

  • Distance and Home Size: The mileage of the move and the size of your home.

  • Number of Movers: Hourly rates can range from $25 to $50 for one or two movers, increasing to $100 to $200 for a team of four or more.

  • Services: Additional services like packing, unpacking, and storage will add to the cost.

  • Specialty Items: Moving large or delicate items such as pianos, vehicles, or large aquariums incurs extra charges.

  • Timing and Access: The time of year, your specific moving date, and the ease of access to your home can affect rates.

Don’t forget to account for other potential costs like moving supplies and tipping your movers.

There are several effective ways to save money when hiring a moving company, primarily by handling some tasks yourself and being strategic with scheduling. Consider these methods:

  • Pack Your Own Belongings: You can significantly reduce costs by packing and protecting your items yourself. This includes wrapping delicate items, organizing them into boxes, and taping the boxes closed. You can use towels, clothes, and suitcases to pack belongings and protect breakables.

  • Provide Your Own Materials: Source free packing materials from friends and family, or reuse boxes and bubble wrap from a previous move.

  • Schedule Strategically: Book your move well in advance. Rates are often lower if you schedule your move on a weekday during the off-season, which typically runs from October through April.

  • Compare Quotes: Get moving quotes from at least three professional movers in your area. This allows you to compare services and choose the best value.

  • Ask for Discounts: Inquire if the moving company offers any special coupons or deals.

  • Purchase Moving Insurance: Protect your investment by purchasing moving insurance, especially for expensive or antique belongings.

  • Divide the Labor: While you can save money by packing, it's wise to leave the more dangerous and physically demanding work—like loading, unloading, and moving heavy furniture—to the professionals.
