Customers say: Quick response

"Derrick of Humphreys Construction made and replaced my stucco mailbox that had been destroyed by a truck hitting it. Derrick had a very fair price and was very accommodating and timely in initial contact and follow up. The quality of the mailbox was beautiful! I also asked him to look at damage on my stucco house and hired him for that as well."

"Josue Hernandez headed up the crew that came to our home to paint the main part of the interior of our home...including the living room, dining room, kitchen, hallways and stairs. They were also working with a cathedral ceiling and 10 foot ceilings. They were very meticulous with the prep work and did an excellent job of painting. They were very careful not to have the paint hit unintended areas by using drop cloths and other materials. Bear Mountain leadership was engaged throughout the process...from the field visit to see our home and create a proposal, to checking in with me during the time that Josue and his team were on site doing the job. And, they started the job on the day they committed to one month earlier when I awarded them the business. I highly recommend Bear Mountain Custom Painting!"

"W C Brothers were very detailed and has pride in their craftsmanship. The came, pressure washed, filled in all cracks and seams and even began painting the same day. I have a 4000sqft home and work was completed to perfection in two days. I already had given them a second job painting my 155gal fish aquarium which they completed two days latter. I'm very satisfied with their service and professionalism. I would highly recommend. 😊"

Stucco questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can apply the stucco yourself, but it is a time- and labor-intensive project, especially on the exterior of a whole house. DIY stucco is better suited for repairing stucco siding or siding a smaller building, such as a shed or garage. Since most of the cost of stucco siding goes to labor, you can cut down significantly on the total if you’re up for the challenge.

The decision to repair or replace stucco depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small cracks, holes, dirt, stains, or discoloration, a repair is typically sufficient and more cost-effective. These issues can often be resolved with a simple repair, a deep clean, and possibly a new coat of paint. However, for more significant problems such as large cracks, peeling, mold, algae, or structural water damage, a replacement might be necessary. In these cases, it is best to call a professional stucco contractor for an inspection. An expert can assess the severity of the damage, determine if there are deeper issues, and advise whether a repair is adequate or if replacing a section or an entire wall is the more cost-effective, long-term solution.

If it is applied properly, stucco is a durable material that can last between 50 and 80 years, especially with regular repair and maintenance. Things like painting the stucco every 10 years or so will help it last longer. The location of your home plays a big part in the life span of your stucco, too.

Repaired stucco requires regular inspections, cleaning to prevent mold or mildew build-up, and timely minor repairs to address hairline cracks. Applying protective sealants can also enhance longevity and maintain its appearance.

Most homeowners can remain in their homes during stucco removal, but expect noise, dust, and limited access to certain areas. For extensive projects or if hazardous materials are present, temporary relocation may be recommended for safety and comfort. Before removal begins, seal off the work areas and use air purifiers to minimize the spread of dust.
