We just used Bear Mountain Custom Painting to completely repaint the exterior of our house, including restaining our back deck and fixing wood rot issues on our cedar shingle siding. The work quality was exceptional from the entire team, starting with the sales coordinator (Zach). We had received several estimates from other companies and Bear Mountain was right in the middle, but we chose Bear Mountain because of their superlative reviews and the expertise that was immediately conveyed by Zach (who did a much more thorough survey of the house for wood rot issues, and also knew correctly that cedar siding needed to be stained rather than painted). Whereas other companies proposed just filling in wood rot with Bondo, the philosophy at Bear Mountain is that to make a durable repair, the rotten wood should be removed completely and replaced with rot-proof materials (PVC or pressure-treated wood). Having had previous bondo repairs of wood performed by the preceding homeowners fail, we were really impressed with the excellent carpentry work performed by Bear Mountain Custom Paiting. The work crew, led by Higi, was fantastic. Higi was a wonderful communicator, and any issues (like windows painted shut) were immediately rectified. Due to cold weather and rain, the crew couldn't work for several days, and this was always communicated to us in a timely fashion--they then would often bring a larger work crew the next day so as to finish the project on time. We were thrilled with the quality of the final work, as the house looks fantastic and we are confident that it will remain in excellent condition for years! They took care to clean up the site thoroughly at the end of the job, and took extra precautions to make sure that our exterior cameras were fully protected. This is an honest company of exceptional professionalism, and we would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others.

We needed to get the house painted and started reading various reviews, trying to decide who to call for a couple of estimates. We contacted BMCP and Zach stopped by a few days later to discuss. I like the fact he listened to what I wanted & expected, and sent over a detailed quote in a couple of days, which also included a few upgrade options if we wanted them. We signed the contract and scheduled the work for a few weeks. After a few weather delays, the first crew arrived and painted. We had some issues with their work, and Rob, the owner came by to discuss. He agreed that it was not up to the BMCP standards and had the work done over, and the end result was excellent. The important take away is Rob & his company stood by their work, and have a longer warranty on their work than the other quotes. We will contact them again when we get ready for some interior painting.

Josue Hernandez headed up the crew that came to our home to paint the main part of the interior of our home...including the living room, dining room, kitchen, hallways and stairs. They were also working with a cathedral ceiling and 10 foot ceilings. They were very meticulous with the prep work and did an excellent job of painting. They were very careful not to have the paint hit unintended areas by using drop cloths and other materials. Bear Mountain leadership was engaged throughout the process...from the field visit to see our home and create a proposal, to checking in with me during the time that Josue and his team were on site doing the job. And, they started the job on the day they committed to one month earlier when I awarded them the business. I highly recommend Bear Mountain Custom Painting!

Overall, Bear Mountain did a good job re-painting my home. And you will probably find that they are cheaper than some painters if you get a lot of quotes. I would say you’ll be satisfied with the paint job, but don’t use them for any repairs, and be aware that they will do the minimum necessary to complete the job. You are getting what you pay for. A basic paint job. I do not like what they consider “touch up” and how they bill. It seems like touch up could be anything from a small missed spot, to an entire corner missed, to something in the contract not completed. In other words, I think they use “touch up” a little too loosely. Their invoices will state that payment is due upon “substantial” completion. So, as you could imagine, they will want payment and could consider many things touch up, when I would consider it, job incomplete. What happened with me is after a quick glance I thought they were 100% done, and didn’t even see touch up items, and I paid them. But, later on I noticed areas where the paint was thinly sprayed on, a corner board not painted, nail holes not filled in, and an attic vent I stressed should be painted with extra care because it’s really old wood, which was not. And with that vent screen which should be replaced which was not. I even reminded the lead guy while he was here. I played phone tag with them to try and get them back for touch up. I’ve been very busy at my job and would miss their call. I would call back and they would say that the person who called already left or was not available. Then I honestly was afraid even if they came back they wouldn’t do this attic vent right, so I just took care of it. I was afraid because they aren’t craftsmen or carpenters first. They are painters - even though they advertise they do all the repair stuff too. I would recommend you hire a quality carpenter if you need any repairs done. They replaced some flashing for me, attempted to screw part of it down through cement (unique situation - long story). You can tell they had trouble with this part and just left screw holes in a few spots where they couldn’t get the screws to grip into the cement. I also needed a fascia board replaced. They forgot at first, but did come back and did that on the last day. I know they forgot because why would you replace a board after painting the area? And, it was done in a rough manner in my opinion. It just seems like the carpentry side of their crew members may not be their strong suit. And because that’s the vibe I got - I didn’t want them to come back and attempt to re-do anything honestly. That parts on me I guess. In short, since they may not hurt your wallet as much as certain companies, I’d say, use them for your exterior paint job, but maybe before they come out, have someone else you really trust do any wood rot repairs, or other carpentry work. It also depends on how picky you are. Perhaps the level of quality I’m looking for just doesn’t exist anymore. Or, doesn’t exist in my price range.

"We're very confused about this review. Once completed, the crew leader walked the project with this client that day, and we addressed any issues. We returned 4 days later to do a final touch-up and again reviewed with the client. We received a detailed touch-up list about 2 weeks later and replied that we would come out to review on-site. Shortly after, we received an email requesting to cancel the touch-up that said "... So, everything is good... Overall, as I think I've said before already, the crew did good. I'm a satisfied customer; just picky. :)". Soon after that, however, this review was posted. We have since reached out to the client regarding this review and his concerns but have not heard back."

We just used Bear Mountain Custom Painting to paint two rooms inside, stain our deck, fence and limewash and paint our home. It was a big job and we couldn't be happier. The inside paint is flawless. And not only did we get the exact look we wanted on the limewash, but the team worked diligently to make sure we were happy with the results. The team leader (Moises) and the team were extremely friendly and professional and attentive to detail. Working with the office to get a quote and then to schedule our job was very easy as well. I would use them again without second thought.

It got done but it was a painful process. They had to reschedule several times and showed up late. We had to stay on top of them to make sure things were done. Apparently the crew leader was out due to an extended illness. It was pretty obvious that he was the glue that kept the team together. Maybe the service isn't always this bad, but it was not a good experience for us.

We hired Bear Mountain to repair our badly damaged smooth ceiling, frame our skylights, and paint. They were very professional from beginning to end. The quality of the work was excellent. While we could have found a better price, this was a small job that required very skilled labor, as we wanted a perfectly smooth ceiling. It was worth the extra cost to deal with a company that we could rely on to deliver quality work.

Our experience with Bear Mountain Custom Painting was phenomenal from quote to job completion. We received many quotes but Bear Mountain Custom Painting was one of the best. We decided to go with them and are very pleased with our decision. Our house is very large and it was going to be a huge project. The workers were prompt every day, The supervisor kept in touch with us also during the project. One of the painters accidentally broke an upstairs windows (accidents are bound happen!). He reported it to the company himself and they planned out how to resolve It without us even needing to say a word. When they finished the paint, they had also fixed th window, and repainted the area! Wow! We were so impressed and highly recommend Bear Mountain Custom Painting. Our previous experience with exterior painters was not a pleasant one, so we highly valued Bear Mountain Custom Painting integrity and follow through.

First, even after very detailed instructions about my expectations, 3 in-home visits to clarify all open questions, when the work began suddenly certain work details where not included anymore, and the guy who did the estimate didn't remember what we talked about. For example I requested the leveling of trims before painting since another constructor prior did a bad job. During pre-visits I was absolutely clear about what I want. After the work had began and I requested the promised quality they didn't remember that part anymore. Another major expectation I had was to seal joints on doors with panels. During winter month those joints tend to move due to drying of the wood. I asked if something can be done to fix this issue. It was promised to me that they will use a silicone which will prevent that. During this year first heating saison I can conclude that they either used a cheap or wrong silicon or simply caulk (which wasn't doing the job in the first place). I still have the same issues as before. Crown moulding joints look kind of grumpy too. Later I realized the the quarter rounds in the bathroom were sealed but not painted. The crew was OK, they had to redo a lot, which they did more or less. In summary: a lot was promised, not everything kept, quality is only fair.

"So sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with this job. After getting a great report card at the end of your project, it surprises us to hear this. We are careful to put all details into our contracts (sometimes more detail than is needed), simply because we want to provide the best service possible. We received all 5's on the client report card for this job (highest rank in each service area) and were given permission to use customer as a reference. Our Touch-Up request form was sent out after the job and was not returned for any requests."

I was ecstatic to find someone willing to come out and do the job, considering that it was literally right before Christmas and I was in a panic. A lot of other contractors were either already shut down for the holidays or finishing up jobs in order to shut down for the holidays and not taking on anymore new projects. Unfortunately, they finished late in the evening and the lighting wasn't great in the room, so I couldn't tell until the next day that most of the room needed another coat of paint. The original color was bleeding through. I ended up repainting half the room plus another coat of paint on the chair rail. Bear Mountain did reimburse me some money for this.

"It is disappointing hear that you were dissatisfied with this job. Unfortunately, this job was performed in 2012 and this is the first we have heard of any issue with the quality/service you experienced. We perform a walkthrough inspection with customers after our jobs are completed and also utilize a customer report card to note any difficulties or errors that may have occured. We received no negative feedback from this project and received no Touch-Up requests."
