Locally owned company, Offering all types of Handyman Services, No employees just self, and subcontract when needed. Licensed in Richmond and Columbia county. Rich. Lic. #LCC20060034188, Col. Co. Lic. # 18485. Free estimates, no trip charge. Jobs are priced according to the work needed. I give a 10% discount to Senior Citizens, Military w/ ID and 10% for all Angie's List Active Members. Company Moto " Our prices are lower for one reason, We are providing a service in order to make a Living, not a Killin!"

"The first day install of the walk in door was ok except the door was hinged to open out in the wrong direction. The build of the barn style bay door did not go well and essentially 3 hours after my brother suggested how to attach the plywood on the outside they did so and stopped for the day. When I complained as I considered the men not able to do the job the boss Randy came out on Monday with the same 2 men and claimed that we didn't specify how the door should open and stated that there would be no extra charge to do the build right. We (my brother and I) explained "Old School" side hinged bay doors were built out of wood and not just a metal frame with plywood put only on the outside as they thought. The workmen then went to work building the door as we asked with interior and exterior casing over the metal frame. The owner Randy Tudor had claimed when he was there that he didn't have his notes with so could not say what the price was. When the job was complete he failed to come to get payment and sent a text message indicating the total was 1625.00 for the job. Today, Wednesday after texting back and forth a couple of times he showed up and provided a receipt for the agreed sum of 1200.00 for the job and accepted payment stating he wasn't going to argue the price."

Classic Copper Works uses time honored German copper smith techniques handed down from father to son and passed on to our highly skilled artisans. We specialize in the fabrication of custom copper & bronze products and other metal specialties. WE DO NOT OFFER REPAIR SERVICES OF ANY KIND. Additional phone number - (888) 908-5339.

"Ordered and paid for custom awning that was to take 5 weeks. Its now been 16 weeks and still waiting. Owner is at best noncommunicable and at worst, rude. I'm now wondering if this is a scam and not a real business."

"I had a circuit breaker that kept tripping, so I called Zapata's because they were the ones who initially wired the house (and did some switches incorrectly--but that's another issue that was resolved). The technician showed up and without even measuring current draw determined in about two minutes that the breaker was overloaded. Because the circuit included the front porch and foyer (something I didn't realize and a poor design IMO), I conceded that it *might* be overloaded with the Christmas lights, even though in the six years I've lived in the house it's never been a problem. After Christmas, I had the same problem and asked them to come back out. They wouldn't come out without charging me again, even after I explained that the problem still existed after I removed the supposed problem. They said they'd come out and if the technician was wrong before, they wouldn't charge me. Seriously??? What kind of self serving proposition is that? Of course he wouldn't be wrong! He was so cocksure the first time around and had little patience to speak with me (though he did have time to try to sell me a new line and breaker). I bought a current meter and tested it myself. I can't find any overload, though there is a laser printer that *could* be causing the breaker to trip because of its peak current draw, but that wasn't what the technician said. He blamed it on the Christmas lights and a generic overload condition. He was also kind of condescending, even after I told him I was an electronic engineer and know a little bit about electricity. I asked him if it could be the breaker itself. Nope! Not that. I won't be using Zapata's ever again. All they had to do was come out and look at the problem again without charging me. It wouldn't have taken five minutes because that's how long it took the first time. I think I was clear about the problem and that the diagnosis was hasty and presumptuous. It was a diagnosis, so it wasn't like I was trying to get something free. I just wanted it done properly."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

The majority of potential burglars are amateurs looking to make a quick buck after breaking and entering. By installing motion-sensor lights, alarm systems, and security cameras, throughout the home, there’s a good chance you will deter crime on your property.

High-quality landscape lights that are hardwired and properly maintained can last for 10 to 25 years or more. You’ll usually get a longer lifespan from soffit lights and wall-mounted lights that aren’t directly exposed to the elements or prone to damage from foot traffic or vehicle traffic. Solar-powered and battery-powered lights often won’t last as long, but you can still expect a lifespan of five to 15 years.

The five common types of landscape lighting are up-lighting, down-lighting, spotlights, built-in lighting, and pathway lighting.

  • Up-lighting casts light upwards from the ground, mostly for aesthetic purposes.

  • Down-lighting directs light onto the ground, lighting pathways, or outdoor space.

  • Spotlights cast direct, focused lighting in any direction.

  • Built-in lighting integrates lighting into an outdoor feature.

  • Pathway lighting illuminates walkways, increasing safety.

In most cases, general electricians and lamp repair specialists can repair lamps, although it’s usually best to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians won’t offer lamp repair services, as the jobs are usually small, and some lamps require dedicated lamp repair expertise that electricians may not have. A dedicated lamp repair technician is also a better option because they will be familiar with different types of fixtures, including antique lamps, and can provide a more dedicated service.

If your lights are shorting out during rain storms or other winter events, you should probably replace them. These shorts indicate electrical issues that could cause serious hazards. Look for outdoor-rated lights with connectors made for rainy conditions to replace them. But if your Christmas lights are new and you want further protection, you can find weatherproof covers to add to the male-end connectors of your Christmas light strings. These can minimize the risk of shorts.
