"Replacing one ceiling fan worked fantastically. It was swift and professional. The second fan was worked on quite a while trying to troubleshoot the issue. It didn't work, but recommended asking vendor for a new reciver. Checked to see the ceiling fan was getting power, which it was. When I get a new receiver, Michel Chamberlain of Elite Electrical will ome back to install it. I would recommend his services."

"These guys were awesome. Arrived on time, accomplished 3 jobs in an hour (including replacing light and installing ceiling fan), and were completely professional. One guy, when a globe broke (not his fault) went to Lowe's and bought a new one for me and came back and installed it. I highly recommend this company!!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.

Fans not turning on, wobbling, noisy motors, or faulty remote controls are common issues requiring repair.

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

Since the cost of installing a ceiling fan is $250 for most homeowners, it might be beneficial to replace your existing fan if you are experiencing a significant repair issue, like a broken motor. However, for less expensive repairs, like a fan blade replacement, you’ll likely spend less on the repair than a complete fan replacement. Of course, if you’re looking for an upgrade or a new style fan, replacing it altogether is always an option.
