"Minor Repairs to 3 Toilets: The plumbing staff are polite and professional. That is where the good stops with Keefe Plumbing. My bill was $356.80. I had cash, but the plumbers did not have change. I offered them $300 cash and for them to bill me for $56.80. They would not bill me. She said I could pay by credit card, but the plumbing staff was able to to that either. I ended up having to drive 30 miles one way to take them my $356.80 payment. While I can attest to the complete professionalism of the 2 plumbers that completed my repairs, I will absolutely never hire Keefe Plumbing again because of the poor customer service of the office staff."
"Owen Plumbing almost instantly responded to our call for help. "I contacted Rooter Pros to see if they could get to my leak that day. They said they could have someone there in a couple hours. They keep contact with me until they arrived. They had to dig down about 2 feet to find the leak and had everything they needed on the truck to fix it with. After they were done the cleaned everything up and you can hardly tell they were there. I can tell you from my 35 years of experience dealing with plumbers in the past that Rooter Pros are the best in the business at what they do. They are attentive to your request, efficient with there time and very effective at what they do. And to top it off they are very affordable."
"I was charged $395 for a Big Blue filter housing installed by Aqua Clear Water System that replaced one that failed (sprang a leak). (This has nothing to do with the fact I change my own filters so any implication that it does is simply dishonest.) I later discovered that the identical filter housing also manufactured by Big Blue is available at The Home Depot for $69.95 and for $59.95 from Isopure Water. The Aqua Clear price of $395 did not include tools or other parts, nor did it include the service call fee and labor charge of $185. Despite the Aqua Clear general manager’s claim that his service fee is in the middle of the pack for Knoxville, others I called (Pipe Wrench, Hiller and Tennessee Standard Plumbing) charge between $39 and $69 and those fees are typically deducted from the bill. The Aqua Clear service technician told me that because the filter housing was just a few days out of warranty there would be no charge. Despite his good intentions, the general manager told him to charge the entire $395, pushing my bill to $580. So there was no transparent pricing and I did not agree to the charge prior to the work being performed. In fact, I was shocked that I was being charged hundreds of dollars for what is essentially a big plastic threaded cup that sells for hundreds less at other retailers. After some haggling, I was able to get the bill reduced to $480, which I think is still unreasonable. The quality of the work, especially where the technician was concerned, wasn't the issue. I have no problem paying more than is customary for high-quality work I can trust, but I do object to price gouging and deception."
Delaying plumbing repairs in Americus leads to rapid mold growth due to the high local humidity. Persistent moisture from ignored leaks also attracts destructive subterranean termites to your foundation. Furthermore, small cracks in underground pipes worsen rapidly as the expansive clay soils shift throughout the year. Address all leaks and pipe damage immediately to prevent complete structural failures and keep your home safe from severe pest infestations.
Helpful?
Watch for recurring slow drains or sewage odors in your Americus home. These issues point to underground pipe separation caused by shifting clay soils. Inspect visible pipes for hard water stains or corrosion at the joints, which indicate improper connections. If your home has older galvanized steel or cast iron pipes, hire a licensed professional to evaluate the system and replace any failing sections to protect your property.

Keep a basic moisture meter on hand to detect hidden leaks behind walls, especially during humid GA summers. Store pipe insulation sleeves and outdoor faucet covers to protect your exterior plumbing from sudden winter freezes. You should also purchase a water meter key. This tool allows you to shut off your main water supply at the street instantly during an emergency, preventing severe water damage inside your home.

Functional plumbing addresses serious issues like leaking pipes and failing drain lines. In the humid Americus climate, you must resolve these functional problems immediately to prevent rapid mold growth and wood rot. Cosmetic updates, like swapping out a showerhead or changing a faucet handle, carry no structural urgency. Always hire a licensed contractor for functional repairs, as these extensive projects require proper permits and strict adherence to state building codes.
Helpful?
Start by scheduling a sewer lateral camera inspection to check for tree root intrusion and damage from shifting GA soils. Next, assess your pipe materials to identify outdated plumbing that requires replacement. You should also inspect your water heater for heavy sediment buildup from local mineral-heavy water. Finally, add protective shutoff valves to your outdoor faucets before winter arrives to prevent burst pipes during sudden freezing temperatures.
