"They cleaned my dryer vent. They were responsive with good communication. We had an issue with a clog. Noah had to disassemble a piece of the pipe to remove the clog. I appreciate him going the extra mile to clean."

"Topstar did a great job on exterior window cleaning and the higher windows on the interior. Chris was very punctual from the bid process through the cleaning process. I would recommend this company highly and have already signed up for their annual cleaning next year."

"Ben did a fantastic job! My carpets have never looked better! I had another company come out before I put my house on the market (less than a month before ICC came to do a final clean before my closing). The other company used a low moisture method that left my carpets with lots of dust. I had two stains from large plants that they could not remove. Ben was able to remove them. There was a huge difference between the work of the other company and ICC. I would definitely recommend ICC. Ben arrived on time; took extra care to protect my walls during the cleaning process; and completed the work in a timely fashion. Overall, ICC provided outstanding service."

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You can use a pressure washer to clean a whole host of surfaces. The exterior siding of your house is one of the most popular spots, as well as your driveway, garage floor, patio or deck, and even your outdoor furniture. Just be mindful about the amount of pressure you apply to different materials—concrete can handle a lot more than wood, for example.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

If your home doesn't have gutters, you can still hang Christmas lights on the roof using specialized clips. Use roof clips designed to attach to shingles or fascia. For tile roofs or the edges of the rooftop, consider using parrot clips. Adhesive light-hanging clips are also a great option. It's important to avoid using nails or staples, as they can damage your roofing material. For unique or complex installations, it's best to consult a professional Christmas light installer to find the safest and most effective solution for your home.

It is not advisable to DIY a roof cleaning job. Cleaning your roof yourself could lead to hazardous falls, scrapes, and even burns, making this a dangerous project. Additionally, using the wrong cleaning solution or cleaning method on your roof could risk damaging it. While some markets offer a DIY roof cleaning kit, these products often speed up the deterioration of your roof.

To ensure that you and your roof are protected, it’s best to leave roof cleaning to a professional with the right chemicals, tools, and equipment to complete the job safely.

Roof raking helps clear snowfall from your roof and, in turn, you hope that this prevents ice dams. But can roof raking actually cause them? Generally, no, it cannot. But you should note that while, in some cases, you might successfully prevent ice dams from forming near the edge of your roof by keeping it cleared with a roof rake, they could still form higher up on the roof, where you are unable to reach. This may leave you wondering: Does roof raking prevent ice dams? While it is not a 100% guaranteed way to prevent them, it does help.
