"I've used JJ for pool, pool heater and spa issues. He has the EXTENSIVE knowledge of someone who's been in the business for a long time. He is professional and his work is super solid. On top of all that, he is amazingly timely and fairly priced. I wish all the contractors I worked with were like JJ. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED."

"We have been using Majestic Pools service for the past 8 months. Joshua is extremely knowledgeable about his work and his prices are very fair. Joshua is very friendly and accommodating to our needs. He communicates with us whenever necessary and takes great care of our pool, leaving it sparkling clean and well-maintained. When Joshua is finished cleaning, he sends me pictures of the pool which is very nice! We would highly recommend Majestic Pools to anyone in need of a reliable pool service company."

"Gulf Pool Services repaired a leak in my above ground pool. It was not a large project, but the repair was done well and the person who did the repair was knowledgeable and very down to earth."

"This was a 30000 gallon pool vinyl liner replacement. This company was the only one responding to our request for bids. Ross was very thorough and professional on the initial visit, and within a couple weeks we have a beautiful brand new pool. I gave a 4.5 on customer service due to lack of communication between management and workers, but other than that special mention to Kurt Francis as well. A very knowledgeable pool guy!"

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

Hot tub repair costs are less expensive than purchasing a new one, especially if your warranty is still intact. You can shop for a secondhand unit or find a deal for a trade-in. If the price to repair your hot tub is higher than the cost of a new one, consider replacing your unit.

Shocking your hot tub means adding extra chemicals to the water. Most spa experts recommend doing this once a week for proper hot tub maintenance, but you can do it more if needed. Shocking has multiple benefits, including preventing the water from becoming murky and it’s essential in removing harmful bacteria from the water.

For a fully-foamed hot tub, freezing typically occurs when the temperature drops below 28 degrees Fahrenheit and remains at or below this level continuously for a minimum of 36 hours. If your hot tub and pumps are still operational, however, the water circulates, and this continuous movement helps prevent freezing, even in very cold conditions. This circulation, along with the insulation provided by the foam, helps maintain the water temperature and prevent it from freezing during extended cold periods. Still, if you’re not planning to run it regularly, be sure to winterize the hot tub properly to prevent damage from freezing.

You should have your spa or hot tub inspected and serviced yearly to prevent more costly repairs. Regular hot tub maintenance can save money and help keep you safe from hazards such as faulty wiring. Call a professional hot tub repair specialist, who will know what common issues to look for and have the parts and tools on hand to fix them immediately.

Generally, it is more cost-effective and energy-efficient to leave your hot tub on all the time rather than turning it on and off. Reheating a hot tub from a cold temperature consumes a significant amount of energy, so maintaining a constant temperature is usually more economical, especially with frequent use.

For daily or weekly use, it's recommended to keep the water at a constant, reduced temperature, such as between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and then increase it to your desired temperature before getting in. If you know you won't be using the hot tub for an extended period, you can lower the temperature to save on energy costs. However, if you use it very infrequently, you can turn it off completely, as long as there is no risk of the water freezing.
