"I had my roof replaced in Orlando, Fl , this April 2024. I had the great priviledge and pleasure to have Eddie Alacan as the Representative of Quality Roofing Solutions. Eddie is great; I am impressed by his professionalism. Eddie helped me understand what is involved in the job. His patience to explain Has no equal. Eddie keeps his words; He returns my calls within 5 min (the most). Eddie makes sure that the customer be satisfied with the work done. "Worthmann Roofing installed a new metal roof on our home. There was a part that needed additional work but unfortunately, it rained before it could be completed and some damage was done. Worthmann Roofing FULLY STOOD behind their warranty and repaired the affected. Additionally, I would like to mention that the restoration company, Morales Restoration, was SO good. They cleaned, mopped and left our home clean and as good as of it had never happened. Last but not least, a special “Thank you” to Joey with Worthmann Roofing for your guidance in getting this done. We truly do appreciate it!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Look for certified local roofing contractors with plenty of experience working with cedar. There are also several important roofing questions to ask before choosing a roofer, including whether they are licensed, bonded, and insured. Once you’ve rounded up a few good candidates, compare estimates and hire whoever gives you the best bang for your buck.

The ridge is the horizontal line where two sloping roof sections meet at the top, forming the highest point of the roof. A hip, on the other hand, is the external angle formed where two roof sections meet and slope downward toward the walls, typically at a lower angle than the ridge. The ridge runs horizontally along the peak and the hip runs diagonally from the peak to the roof's edges.

Roof vents are an essential part of a roof, as they promote energy efficiency by keeping warm, humid air at bay. The roofing material, especially asphalt shingles, will not last as long as it should (about half of its manufacture life) if the attic is not ventilated. Also, going without ventilation means having a warm attic that demands more from your air conditioning system (and your wallet, once the bills come). Ridge vents and roof vents also prevent a host of other icky moisture-related problems like rot, mold, and mildew.

A standard roof can hold a live load of about 20 pounds per square foot. However, gable roofs often have steeper-than-average slopes, so calculating their weight capacity can be challenging. If the slope of your gable roof is greater than 4:12, the live load needs to be decreased to allow for a larger dead load. Ask your roofer exactly how much weight your roof can support.

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average to install, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the professional you hire, the accessibility of your chimney, the cap's material and size, whether any repairs are needed, and if it requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or copper. Copper caps are the most expensive, followed by stainless steel and then galvanized steel. Excluding labor, average material costs are around $100 for galvanized steel, $250 for stainless steel, and $600 for copper. You may also face additional costs, such as hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before the cap is installed.
