"One of a Kind Carpenter was terrific. All the work was completed- even though we ran into some challenges, which they quickly resolved. I have an older house, and these were not anticipated with the job. I also added on to the project a few times, which they managed to do in a timely fashion, and the quality of work was impeccable. I would highly recommend him, and I will not use anyone else for my work now."

"We had a bar built with no plans, just an idea in our heads. He was able to translate that into an excellent product, exactly as we envisioned. He kept in touch with us throughout the build, excellent communication skills. Delivered and set up as promised. I highly recommend Kyle as a carpenter and as a person. Honest and a caring professional."

"It was good. He worked part time. He participated quite a beat. He worked some days half day and some days he would take off to send his kids to school. We were prepared to deal with it. He was a very good carpenter. He was flexible. My wife wanted some custom and unusual things. He could understand what we needed and he did it. He was polite. He did a very good job."

"Bill said that since it was impossible to estimate the total cost until the demolition was complete but agreed to set a cap at $20,000. The work required demolishing the framing, jacking up the side of the roof in several places, tearing off all the siding and completing repairs. Bill had a crew of 2-3 people working daily for about 3 weeks. The house is better and more valuable. The communicated daily to keep us informed about the process, progression and costs. He came in under budget. There was no set completion time at the outset since the extent of damage was undetermined, but I was satisfied with the entire process. Bill is a great person to work with, honest and conscientious."

"These fellas were great! The Boss, Trevor, could not make it as his wife was giving birth to their very cute daughter, his brother Denim shared a photo. Congrats to the Couple. Denim and James were right on time and from the moment they arrived, they were all business, sticking an moving. They did a great job, and were dedicated to the task. They were very polite and respectful. As a Contractor for nearly 4 decades, their good work habits were well defined and demonstrated. They even used a specific grommeted fasteners I provided as being one for water tightness in the roof panels. Great job. Despite Trevors desire to be but inability to be onsite, and rightly so, his brother Denim and worker James, easily picked up and filled in for Trevors likely contribution to the end. They provided a 10% discount in recognition for my Military Service. GREAT JOB! Love the new shed!! Patrick Garvey, Investigative Paralegal & Veteran By my experience with this Company, you can r"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.
