"I needed to get my house windows tinted for energy use efficiencies, but we love a well-lit home from natural light. Andy knew that was my struggle in deciding. Not only was his price fair, he was very helpful, his work was excellent and he went above and beyond, as I was making my decision on which tint to use, he came out the next time he was in the area and tinted one of my windows so I can see if that is the level of tint we wanted to go. After a week, we made our decision, the sample window tint he did was EXTREAMLY helpful, it removed any regrets later. When he was here, I asked him to do two very small bathroom windows which was not part of the original work order, he did and wasn't even going to charge me. Fair is fair, everybody must make a living, I insisted that I pay him at the square footage cost he quoted on the other windows."

"My husband Bill and I are extremely pleased with the service and quality of products we received from Creative Remodeling of Orlando when renovating our home. Our home was built in 1979 and we were constantly replacing the wood panels due to cracking and rotting wood. Brian with Creative Remodeling came to our house and detailed exactly what they would do and answered any questions we had. Don was our installer and he was great, showed up every day and was a true craftsman. When everything was completed the inspector came and signed off with no problems found. We live in Port Orange, FL and the city is known to have tough inspections. We would hire Brian and his team again in a heartbeat and have already referred his company to people who have commented that our house looks so nice. Great job and Thank You to Brian and the whole team that worked on our house."

"My husband and I hired CoolVu to provide us with and install heat/glare reducing window film in our glassed-in lanai. Jay and Christina did an excellent job! They went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that the job was done perfectly! They are highly skilled, helpful, and friendly. Our windows look wonderful on the inside and outside. We are counting on their excellent product to keep us all cool (including our cats) and reduce our electric bill. We highly recommend CoolVu!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

Use a high-quality caulk with silicone around your windows, as it’s waterproof and shrink-proof. Or, you can use a caulk consisting of polyurethane or acrylic if you want to be able to paint over it. Caulk made from silicone is not paintable. Avoid using inexpensive caulk that has a resin or oil base. These caulks will not last long and may shrink and pull away from the window as temperatures go up and down.

If you live in a colder region, consider installing double- or triple-pane windows with low-E coatings, which can trap heat and keep your house warm. In hot areas, windows with reflective coatings and insulated frames help keep cooling costs down. If you experience a lot of extreme weather, then impact-resistant glass might be a worthwhile investment.

Arched windows used to be most prevalent in more traditional home styles, like Spanish colonial and Gothic, but they are becoming increasingly popular in modern design. You’ll often find arched windows in new home builds across many styles, including farmhouse and contemporary architecture. This represents a more general trend toward more unique houses with interesting features.

Yes, you can enlarge windows in a brick house. Your masonry contractor will need to cut away exterior brick to make space for the larger window, and you may also need to consult a structural engineer to make sure the window is properly supported inside the frame of the house.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, low-E windows can reduce energy loss by 30% to 50%. But the actual effect of low-E windows in your home will depend on many factors, like climate, number of windows, window treatments, and more. In terms of aesthetics, you may or may not notice a difference in how your windows look or how much natural light shines through. But overall, low-E windows look very similar to traditional windows.
