"Yes he showed up half an hour early, and was very knowledgeable. And very careful not to get soot all over the place while he was cleaning our fireplace. He repaired the box in the fireplace quickly and efficiently. We also took him to the neighbors and he cleaned their fireplace. Very happy with them I would recommend him again."

"We have just moved from Boston to Boca Raton. I recently bought a house and we decided to have some upgrades done before we moved in. We  had Fabio install 1300 sf of hardwood floors on our living and dining room. We were more than pleased with the services provided by Fabio. Great professional, he delivered more than we expected. He kept his work area very clean and neat, he preserved the walls and the new paint that we had done before he arrived, We strongly recommend his services. A great and friendly professional with a very fair price."

"I would hire this company for any electrical work!  Jeremy arrived on time with everything he needed.  He was a professional in every way - doing his work with care and perfection!  Everything was done right - the first time!  The fans look great and run perfectly!  I also have peace of mind with the whole house surge protector.
Thank You Jeremy and Richard A Jones!

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Yes, there are regulations on using wood stoves, particularly concerning emissions and installation standards. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets emission limits for wood stoves to ensure they burn cleaner and more efficiently. Additionally, local building codes may have specific requirements for installation and venting, so it's essential to check with local authorities before installing or upgrading your stove.

Homeowners insurance may cover chimney leaks, repairs, or replacement, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage. If the chimney is damaged by a sudden, covered peril like a lightning strike, storm, hail, fallen tree, or an unexpected fire, your policy is likely to cover the costs. However, insurance generally does not cover damage resulting from normal wear and tear, old age, or a lack of proper maintenance, such as failing to perform regular cleanings and inspections. If a fire or other damage is caused by a known issue you didn't address, the claim may be denied. Additionally, some policies may have specific exclusions for events like high winds or earthquakes.

The time it takes for creosote to build up in a chimney can vary depending on how often you use your fireplace and the wood you burn. Creosote can start accumulating after just a few fires, especially if you burn unseasoned wood or allow fires to smolder. Regularly using the fireplace without proper maintenance can lead to significant creosote buildup within a few months. To prevent hazardous buildup, have your chimney inspected and cleaned at least once a year.

Both wood-burning stoves and fireplaces can emit smoke and other combustion gases that are harmful to human health. According to the American Lung Association, wood smoke can lead to coughing and wheezing as well as long-term health impacts like increased risks for heart attacks and stroke.

Newer models meet the modern efficiency standards set in 2020 by the Environmental Protection Agency for cleaner burning, more efficient wood stoves. Regular maintenance can also minimize smoke.

No, not all chimneys need a damper. However, most chimneys do, especially in newer homes. Most gas-burning fireplaces cannot function safely without a damper. Only some older wood-burning fireplaces can function safely without one. A chimney without a damper is essentially just an open hole in the roof of your home.
