"Y&M Installers are the best! They do excellent work! They removed damaged drywall due to a bad roof leak. Once the roof was repaired, they installed new drywall. They work quickly and are resonable priced. They left the site clean every day. I highly recommend their services."

"Jamee and his crew have been the best hire for work that we have experienced. They did interior and exterior paint as well as some drywall patching and door hanging. Everyone has been beyond polite. All projects were priced very affordable and stayed on budget and done in a timely manor. First class service and the end result for all projects were beyond our expectations. They went above beyond to ensure we were satisfied. I would highly recommend Jamee and his crew. We will be using Jamee and his guys exclusively for any future projects we have."

"Steve is great and after his team painted one bedroom to start, I hired them again for most of the home interior (excluding bathrooms). Petra Painting was consultative & communicative, which really complemented their fair prices. It was a total crew of 5 people for the walls w/ high ceilings, and a 6th member was brought on to paint the ceiling and walk through for final touch-ups."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A jigsaw is commonly used to cut holes in drywall. It offers versatility and precision, making it suitable for creating circular or irregular openings. When equipped with the right blade, a jigsaw can swiftly and cleanly cut through drywall, making it a good choice for DIY projects.

Popular wall textures include orange peel, knockdown, spray sand, and smooth finishes. Orange peel and knockdown are particularly common choices for drywall as they are simple and cost-effective. Orange peel texture has a lightly bumpy surface resembling the skin of an orange, while knockdown (sometimes called knockout) looks like a stucco finish with flattened high spots. In contrast, popcorn texture has fallen out of fashion, partly due to its past association with asbestos and a shift toward more restrained interior design styles.

It’s less costly to drywall a fireplace than shiplapping it since material costs are higher for shiplap. However, if you’re DIYing the project, shiplap is less expensive since you won’t have to pay for labor. With drywall, getting a smooth finish is difficult unless you’re a pro. Shiplap is ideal for an accent wall or unique space, such as around a fireplace, since it adds texture and gives off a cozy vibe.

You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. If you’re using cellulose or some other type of blown-in insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool are common), you will need drywall to contain the insulation material.

The easiest way to cut holes in drywall for electrical boxes is to use a spiral saw with a drywall router bit. Hang the drywall without cutting out a hole for the box, but make sure you measure and mark where the box is located on the wall. Once you screw in the drywall sheet, drill a small hole into the box void, insert the spiral saw bit, and move it around the edge of the box using the inside wall as a guide. You can also use an oscillating multi-tool with an electrical box cutout for fast, professional results.
