"I want to share my endorsement of David Graf Construction, Inc. I just bought a house with a 600 sq/ft deck that was not structurally sound. It was the peak of Covid and I couldnâ t get a contractor to show up for scheduled appointments. While driving in the neighborhood, I found David Graf on a job and asked him to come by and review my situation. While he was busy managing several jobs and booked out more months, he took pity on me and graciously came by and assessed my situation. He immediately recognized issues could not wait. He sent me a quote that evening and had a crew on-site a day later. The scope of work included structural improvements and a staircase for the deck.      We called Phipps Painting to give us an estimate to paint the outside of our house including the front door.  Also included was an area  of flooring at our front door entrance of about 6 feet square.  He sent me the estimate and we agreed to the price.  I told him that we had to have the colors approved by the HOA and we would get in touch after we got the their approval.

     We picked out colors from a big box store and gave him the numbers from the back of the color.  He used a different store to purchase paint since he thought he could get a better quality.  He was able to match the colors that we wanted even though it was a different store.

     The two men arrived on time every day.  These men are truly gentlemen in the real sense, very polite and courteous.  At the end of each day they cleaned up the work area and put tools away.  There was never a mess for us to look at or deal with.  The work   was done quickly and they didn't abandon our job to go to another.  They stayed with our house until the job was finished.  This     had not always been the case with other workers.  Never was there any mess or spill area, We have some bushes close to the house but our bushes were covered and protected. 

     I would absolutely call Phipps Painting again for any job and not have any worries about the quality of the work.  They are the best!

"Everyone at Solar Shield was very nice and professional. We had a few concerns when the moisture barrier was installed and we still had rain in our bedroom. Frank got it corrected the next day, and finished the roof the following week. The good news: very nice looking roof with no more leaks. The bad news: we got pictures of the hurricane straps installed and had the roof inspected by our insurance company. They found that the hurricane straps installed were not up to their standards and neither was the moisture barrier. They also found multiple slats (we didn’t have decking that covered the whole roof - old house) that were split and compromised during the work, so we were unable to qualify for any insurance discounts. Overall, we have a nice looking roof - top of the line from Solar Shield Industries. Hopefully, it will last a lifetime. But unfortunately, we have some decking remediation that needs to be done and we still need hurricane straps, which will probably be clips now. Not a big enough deal for me to raise a stink. I can retro clips and repair the few decking issues from the attic & under siding. And apparently, the moisture barrier is just not what the insurance company accepts as a “moisture barrier.”"

"GCS did an excellent job executing a pretty complicated project. I would definitely recommend them to a friend. The bid that Dennis provided was very detailed and thorough. He came by several times to take measurements and ask questions about our intentions and goals for the project. He also had his electrical and HVAC subcontractors contact us to gather information about the project. It took about two weeks for the bid to be completed, which caused us to get a little impatient, but the final result was far more complete and thorough than any of the other bids we received. The cost was also very competitive. Work started soon after we signed the contract. Dennis did a very good job of coordinating the the tasks, including bringing the various subcontractors to the site in a timely manner, and within about 6 weeks we had the foundations poured and the basic framing done on the 8'x10' kitchen addition and the 16'x20' 1st floor bedroom/basement addition. Dennis' team were receptive to the changes to the plan (there will always be changes to the plan) that we asked for. The changes were documented, invoiced and priced reasonably. There was a lot of inside work to perform, so that took another 3 months or so. Insulation, drywalling, drywall finishing, carpet removal and installation, removal of the old kitchen cabinets and appliances, etc. Again, Dennis did a good job of scheduling the various specialists to come in and do their thing. Dennis was very responsive to any issues or concerns that came up through text messaging or by phone. Problems: Main issue was that the pace of work in the middle of the project was slower than we would have liked. This was mostly an issue with one individual worker. Overall: We are very happy with the results of the project and would recommend GCS highly. Attached picture is of the kitchen interior just prior to completion. It is exactly what we had envisioned."
