Signed contract end of October. It took my wife and I a while to finalize colors because we were indecisive.
Gulf stream broke ground around thanksgiving and were filling the pool up with water christmas eve. Took them only about 1 month to complete the job.
Bruce was our salesman and was very helpful and came up with great design.
Ted was the project coordinator and was great about finishing this whole job in just about 1 months time. I hear that is a rarity in the pool business. This guy was awesome.
Wayne was the pool school guy and also helped with a few service items. He is excellent with customers.
Whenever you have a construction project there will always be things that need to be taken care of after the job is done.
I needed caps for where the volley ball net will be installed. A piece of my landscape curbing needed to be fixed and there were a few other minor things. They took care of all these items very quickly.
Our pool is awesome and gulf stream did an exceptional job and was very professional - you should visit their showroom.
*My only piece of feedback. After the job was done we wanted to have a small paver pad to match the existing pool deck so I could park the grill. I called the sub directly that put the pavers in (they did a great job) several times. They never called me back to quote the job.
There were many problems, the biggest was Tim was selling work that he was not licensed nor qualified to perform. At the end of my job Gulf Stream was red tagged by the inspectors for not having the post on the porch inspected as part of the final. Upon further review the inspectors found that Gulf Stream never pulled a permit for changing the Post, they are not allowed to as a Pool contractor. It took over a year for this to get resolved, during that time Tim tried to get me to pull a homeowner permit for this work, after I refused, he told the inspectors that I was doing all kinds of un-permitted work. I was told by the inspector that Gulf Stream lost their ability to pull permits for new work in my area and if this was not resolved soon it would be going to the state licensing board.
I would not recommend allowing Gulf Stream Pools and Spa's to do any work.
The other issues with Gulf Stream are :
The construction supervisor was not on the job, he showed up when it was time for a check and when you did call him with a question or issue he was combative.
The sub crew that performed the re-screening and post replacement were not professional.
The only sub on this project that were professional and did quality work was Sierra Stone.
The quality of craftsmanship on the spa build was poor at best, the guy who installed the jets after the pebble tek, took a grinder to the surface to make his jets fit, due to the wrong angel of install of the piping.
Once the project was complete the crew that was hired to clean up the side yard from sidewalk to fence, did not remove all of the concrete and paver scraps. The spent the time to cover them with dirt vs. removal of the trash.
If I knew pavers were going to be such a hassle and such a DISGUSTING sight...it is so embarrassing to have green and black mildew ALL over our pavers, I would never have put them in. Gulfstream told me they were low maintenance. They recommended a guy who did not seal them properly. When I called and told them about my experience they could have cared less. Oh, well, we fired him anyway was their response. I trusted them to guide me and give me honest advice about what product to pick. They steered me wrong and now I regret ever having gotten pavers. What a chore and an expense.
Gulfstream was not responsive at all when I had this issue. They'd been paid their final installment and that's it. I'd think twice about using them.
When building the original pool they punctured a wall which later cost us $3,000 in repairs and never even got a and quot;sorryand quot; from them and we had to have someone else do the work. Definitely not a pool contractor to consider.
