"This was my second time using Sunrise Quality Painting and the quality was equally as good as the first. Nick and the team arrive 7AM each day to complete a careful and thorough paint job on the entire inside of the home. They cover the existing smoke smell of the home and vastly improved the appearance. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quick and quality paint job."

"Carlsons did a great job outside painting our home. Also painted our pool screen enclosure and our cool deck. In addition they added a small fence section to hide garbage containers and AC unit. We also had an outside bathroom door replaced and painted. Carlsons team did a great job. There were a few minor things that needed retouch, I pointed them out and they came back and satisfactorily retouched everything we pointed out. I highly recommend them."

"We hired David and his team to paint the exterior of our 3 story home along with trim and decking. They were VERY timely and did it very efficiently and did such a great job. They left behind no mess and all the trim work looked perfect. I have referred them to other friends and family and would recommend them to anyone looking to have painting done at a fair price. We will use again."

"After I described the details of what I hoped to get from my Pool Deck Refinish project, Matt began to explain the tasks needed to get what I wanted. I could tell by his confident demeanor that this was someone I could trust to get it done, and done right. The quote for the work was received on the same day. The work was scheduled a few days after our agreed-upon price. A price that was easy to accept. Pleased with our deal, Volvo, my assigned painter made the deal all the more worth the price. His attention to detail and concern for my agreement with each planned task were comforting. The finished work was far beyond our expectations. Thank you Matt for sending Volvo to refinish our pool deck and for the timely and reasonable offer. Will strongly recommend your company to our neighbors."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

By applying protective finishes and using durable materials that withstand weather and time.

To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.
