"I was so pleased with CARA PVD the quality of painting 2 bathrooms and staining and varnishing a slatted door for me. Jimmy's attention to detail and quality of work in a timely manner was top notch. Their price wa fair and they left nothing but the work done to know they were there. I highly recommed CARA PVD for your interior painting needs in the Tampa Bay area."

"Eric and his crew were a pleasure to work with. He scheduled a day/time to come review the job. He was right on time! He kept in communication with his quote which was extremely reasonable, the timing of the job, and what we wanted for paint colors, etc. He uses high quality Sherwin Williams paint. On the first day of the job, he arrived with his crew, Eddie, Kurt and Mark to review the job with them. The guys were very professional, friendly, and paid attention to all the details. They cleaned up at the end of the day before leaving. They did an amazing job painting our condo."

"Mr Williamson and his crew painted the exterior of my house. They were diligent to details and used superior material to give our place a much needed face lift. After finishing they even did a pressure wash and leaf removal on the gutters, Great job Alex and crew. KA merry Christmas to all of you. Bill Schwarze, Pelican Lane in Rockledge"

"We hired David and his team to paint the exterior of our 3 story home along with trim and decking. They were VERY timely and did it very efficiently and did such a great job. They left behind no mess and all the trim work looked perfect. I have referred them to other friends and family and would recommend them to anyone looking to have painting done at a fair price. We will use again."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

Beyond liquid rubber, homeowners can use sealants, stains, membranes, or tapes as waterproofing options. Oil-based or water-based sealants soak into the wood, creating a moisture-resistant barrier. Waterproofing stains—available in transparent, semi-transparent, and solid colors—add both protection and style to your deck. For heavy-duty waterproofing, deck membranes and waterproof tapes can be applied under the deck boards to direct water away from the structure below. Whatever method you choose, clean and prep the deck first to ensure the best, longest-lasting results.

Rags used with oil-based stains are highly flammable and can spontaneously combust in the right conditions. To reduce the fire risk, throw them in a metal container after use and add rocks on top to secure them. Add an inch of water and seal the container. Take the rags in the container to a hazardous waste factory as soon as possible.

If you want to achieve a deeper, darker stain color, wait 5 to 10 minutes before wiping it off. However, wipe it off faster for a lighter tone. When wiping off the stain during this part of the process, be sure to work in the direction of the wood’s grain for best results.

Staining a deck with a rag is typically a better option than using a brush, as it helps the stain penetrate deeper into the wood. However, both brushes and rags are best reserved for detailed work because using these tools on an entire deck can require tediously crawling around on your hands and knees. A pad applicator, sprayer, or roller are preferred alternatives to applying stain over the majority of a deck. Use a rag for railings and other detailed work, and let the wood soak up as much of the stain as possible before wiping away drips or pools.
