"Carlsons did a great job outside painting our home. Also painted our pool screen enclosure and our cool deck. In addition they added a small fence section to hide garbage containers and AC unit. We also had an outside bathroom door replaced and painted. Carlsons team did a great job. There were a few minor things that needed retouch, I pointed them out and they came back and satisfactorily retouched everything we pointed out. I highly recommend them."

"We hired David and his team to paint the exterior of our 3 story home along with trim and decking. They were VERY timely and did it very efficiently and did such a great job. They left behind no mess and all the trim work looked perfect. I have referred them to other friends and family and would recommend them to anyone looking to have painting done at a fair price. We will use again."

Customers say: True professional

"We needed someone to paint the exterior of the house and replace some posts and panels for a stretch of fence that had rotted and come down in the wind. A couple of quotes I got were crazy high…and them Sami and his son came out The price they quoted was excellent; now I just had to see if they knew what they were doing. Happily, Sami is the real deal. He cut in the painting expertly and did an excellent job overall, cleaning up after himself as he went. The fence was a bear, as the rotted posts were still anchored in concrete. He and his son dug the cement out, poured new cement, set new poles and reattached the existing panels. The work was professional, the results look great and the price was very reasonable. Now, they are my go to guys for any handyman projects that come up. Highly recommend!"

"Our project was a little different than most, Keith came out looked over the job and gave me his professional opinion, options and timeline to get the job accomplished. I was so impressed with his methods and process I didn't even call anyone else. We worked out a deal to get the job done and they got started the next day. His crew came in got the job done ahead of schedule and under the estimate! Perfect workmanship, craftsman are hard to find! I would hire them again and recommend them for any painting project you may have!"

"After I described the details of what I hoped to get from my Pool Deck Refinish project, Matt began to explain the tasks needed to get what I wanted. I could tell by his confident demeanor that this was someone I could trust to get it done, and done right. The quote for the work was received on the same day. The work was scheduled a few days after our agreed-upon price. A price that was easy to accept. Pleased with our deal, Volvo, my assigned painter made the deal all the more worth the price. His attention to detail and concern for my agreement with each planned task were comforting. The finished work was far beyond our expectations. Thank you Matt for sending Volvo to refinish our pool deck and for the timely and reasonable offer. Will strongly recommend your company to our neighbors."

Small jobs welcome

"You will not find any better of a painter than Mark Frye, his work speaks for itself. We had every inch of our house painted, ceilings , walls, trim, doors and baseboards and not one flaw truly. His precision is amazing , very talented . Customer service was impeccable , never bullied , never convinced me to do anything I didnâ t want to , provided detail of every task thoroughly and his overall demeanor is so kind and professional. The money was incredibly fair and just and he provided receipts for all paint he bought and did not buy over and charge for that. Incredible experience all around!!!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The longevity of paint on wood depends on factors like the quality of the paint, surface preparation, exposure to elements, and maintenance. Exterior paint on wood surfaces can last 5 to 15 years or more with proper care and maintenance. Interior paint tends to have a longer life span, often 10 years or more. Regular cleaning, touch-ups, and addressing any issues like peeling or cracking can extend the life of the paint.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

It’s often best to spray on deck sealer. Sprayers can apply sealant more quickly and evenly than rolling while still enabling you to reach tight spaces. When using a sprayer, always use a low-pressure setting at a close distance to ensure an even application. Avoid using sprayers on windy days.

Here's the deal with leaving used rags covered in oil-based stain lying around in a pile: Depending on the conditions, these rags can take just an hour or up to a few days to combust. The source of ignition is caused by trapped heat that can be compounded if the rags are near a heat source.

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.
